This is required for the game to boot into the menu without the screen freezing.
Text font is pretty rough to look at, but your eye gets used to it.
Game is not able to create a multiplayer session. Invites in UPlay are received from friends, but when accepting, it will not continue from Connecting
phase. Making a multiplayer game yourself will not continue from Creating session
phase. Local network session is not able to find other players in the same network, so you are not able to invite them to your game.
Run with Proton 6.16-GE-1: https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/6.16-GE-1
Change DirectXVersion
to 9:
$ sed -i 's/\(<DirectXVersion>\)[0-9]\+\(<\/DirectXVersion>\)/\19\2/g' ~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/1281630/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Application\ Data/Ubisoft/Anno1404Addon/Config/Engine.ini
Remember to set your launch parameter to use D9VK:
PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%
Local multiplayer does not seem to work, but you can play with players in the local network via the internet play.
6.20-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Custom proton: https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/6.20-GE-1
Launch options:
WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=3 %command%
Performance feels lower than expected. Using FSR will improve experience a lot without any significant quality drop.
Game usually crashes when starting it first time. Second start usually works fine. Game sometimes crashes when receiving invite via Steam. No crashes during actual gameplay.
Runs great out of the box. Occasional crashes but no progress is lost.
Game may randomly crash but progress is not lost. Other reports may have insight of the cause. Overall gaming experience is still good.
Game crashes or exits to desktop without any errors.
Not sure if this is EAC related. Same result with GE-Proton 8-16
Protontricks:
$ protontricks 110800 d3dx9_43 d3dcompiler_43 d3dx11_43 d3dcompiler_47

Change line Renderer:DirectX 9
to Renderer:DirectX 11
Game is frame capped at 30 FPS. AFAIK this is the same on Windows.
6.5-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Glorious Eggroll (Proton-6.5-GE-2)
Game runs in 1440p, high/ultra settings around ~50-70 fps. Occasionally performance drops permanently to 30-50 fps, or even lower. However, this is not so common as you can sometimes play the game few days in a row without any issues. This performance problem is fixed by simply restarting the game.
Demo version works perfectly out of the box
To clarify again: this was the Manor Lords Demo version
Runs great out of the box. Did not encounter any issues.
Works when creating a crew yourself. Joining friend's crew does not work.
Was expecting better performance. It is still very enjoyable if you have decent hardware.
Joining other players' games does not work.
When trying to join friend's crew, it will not continue from Locating fresh supplies
phase. I was unable to get this working after several restarts. Making a crew yourself and inviting your friends works without issues.
Playable out of the box with some issues
Music is missing. Some sound effects are missing: construction sound, low fuel notification and some others. Not too distracting though.
Alt+Tab does not work. Cannot interact with other windows on foreground.
When opening toolbar configuration menu (from 'G' key), game freezes for a second or two.
Game sometimes acts if there was a connection issue for few seconds: graphics are rendered normally but logic hangs. This happened only once during ~2h gameplay.
Crashes immidiately or launches to Steamworks initialization failed error
Attempted to run with multiple Proton versions.
Following proton versions will launch the game but shows "Steamworks initialization failed" error:
- Proton 7.2-GE-2
- Proton 6.3-8
There are some reports on Steam discussions about the Steamworks initialization error happening on Windows too.
Following versions resulted in immidiate crash:
- Proton Experimental
- GE-Proton 7-17
- Proton 7.0-2
Install "Battlerite Royale" from the same developer and copy following file:

After exiting the game to main menu, mouse clicks are not registered. Alt + Tab fixes this.
Tested for less than 30 mins on self hosted solo game. When something new happens (e.g. using a skill for the first time) the becomes laggy (probably compiling shaders). After a while the gameplay is pretty smooth.
After exiting game to main menu, mouse clicks are not registered. Alt + Tab fixes this.
Still crashes instantly on current main Proton version. No crashes on Proton Experimental.
