Origin launcher doesn't work.
This is one of those moments where I tend to blame the program and not Proton. Even Windows users would be frustrated with this pointless double launcher situation.
I have the problem where I am stuck in the room right after the first mission where I escape Pala. Also, there is a strange issue with some NPCs where they bounce or shudder. I have found a thread on Steam from 2012 where someone else had the same issues, so, as I expected, this is an in-game bug that certain people experience, and probably isn't much to do with Proton itself.
Works out of the box with Proton Experimental
For a mostly 2D game the FPS sometimes jumped all over the place from tops of 140 to lows of 30
Z-fighting on buildings. I also believe this is a Windows issue as well.
Runs like utter junk but this is the definitive bad PC port, so not a Linux/Proton problem as such. I did not experience better performance using WineD3D.
Random CTD when trying to kill Ivan. No other crashes.
Runs out of the box with standard Proton 5.0-9 with maxed out settings. A few frame drops in busy areas but I suppose that I expect that.
On Xfce, if something caused fullscreen to be interrupted (stupid apport), I could not get it back by pressing Alt-F11.
There appears to be an issue with settings in the menu being saved. It was a pain in the arse initially to get the graphics settings changed because my changes were not reflected in settings after restart, so I thought they had not been applied (turns out they did).
Nothing loads after Rockstar Launcher. No error messages
Rockstar Launcher loads up but nothing else afterwards. Attempting the PID=$(pgrep RDR2.exe); kill -s SIGSTOP $PID && kill -s SIGCONT $PID command in the terminal does nothing to prevent this.
