Used gloriouseggroll fork of proton version Proton-5.9-GE-7-ST. In the protonfixes/gamefixes directory of Proton-5.9-GE-7-ST, needed to create the file 1086940.py. Some odd graphical/starting problems when game tried to change monitor resolution from native to 1920x1200 for initial startup. No issues if I manually changed monitor resolution before starting.
Early access type issues I'm sure, but game CTD once during character creation, and locked up once while initiating a quicksave.
Game is non-functional with Patch 9. Requires .NET 6.0 with no way to install via protontricks
Cut scenes don't play video, but audio plays. Must hit esc to get past loading video.
Unplayable.
No graphics (Regardless of D3D vs DXVK or ESYNC) when using Proton 4.11-11. Game starts with working graphics using Proton 4.2-9, 3.16-9, and 3.7-8, however the game grashes when "generating galaxy" or trying to click the options menu in-game.
Need to install directmusic and gmdls with protontricks. Experiencing audio crackling on music, but otherwise plays well.

Could not get Steam login to work using the default version of Proton. Had to switch to Glorious Eggroll to get Steam login to function correctly.
Game would not launch with official Proton, but launches with Glorious Eggroll fork
Game sometimes locks up (e.g. loading bar gets to 87% and never completes) when trying to enter a new zone on the beginning city map. May not be proton related.
DOES NOT WORK WITH PROTON 5.13
In the Steam library, right click Shadow Empire and choose properties, then in the compatability section Force the use of Proton 5.0-*
Launch the game once so that steam creates the proton prefix area
With protontricks installed, close the game launcher and run:
PROTON_VERSION="Proton 5.0" protontricks 1154840 gdiplus
PROTON_VERSION="Proton 5.0" protontricks 1154840 dotnet472
While protontricks is running, load steamapps/common/Shadow Empire/graphics/shadowmodgraphics/defaultcounterbig.png into GIMP. In GIMP, choose Image -> Mode -> RGB. Then file->export and overwrite the original png.
2-3 hours later when protontricks is done, play the game.
After the most recent patch the game is now unplayable because the 'Easy AntiCheat' software immediately disconnects my account within 1s of logging in with code 47.
