The native version of this game runs horrible with many graphical limitations and game play breaking glitches.
The proton version works much better, it can be played in full with its graphical options maxed out and after some initial stuttering as it builds its Proton cache will be playable completely smooth.
I rank this Silver because Battleye is not Linux compatible, this means that while you get the best experience on the Proton version you will not be able to join BattlEye protected servers.
So completely playable with friends on an unprotected private server but not suitable for Online play.
Tested with the ACO mesa stack, game ran almost 100% flawless, i had one large hang at the very beginning of the game. Be patient, as the game runs without any issue afterwards it likely is compiling all the shaders for the entire game at once during that freeze.
With this game its a meme of having to accept it if it comes down your path. ProtonDB's algorythm requested me to test this, and i can safely say. It is bad rats... but it runs fantastic on Proton.
Tested with the ACO experimental shader compiler, runs flawlessly on max settings. Very minimal micro stutter from the shaders compiling as you go into a new area you do not yet have a shader cache for but then back to great framerates within microseconds long before the fights.
Unstable and will crash on the options menu. But i was able to loadup the campaign and play. The problem is it only works(ish) in windowed mode and without options it makes it a bit tricky. Use this as your launch string : -sw -noborder -w 1920 -h 1080
Played the demo, completely playable without any issues during gameplay. However the game did not close and stays in the foreground forcing me to reset the PC after i am done playing.
I see no reason why this would not run if Just Cause 3 ever gets fixed, but since Just Cause 3 itself is Borked this mod is unplayable.
Tested with the ACO-Git mesa for AMD. Game runs but not flawlessly, however these issues do not get in the way of the gameplay its mostly issues with the menu's. I was getting a black screen on the startup of the game and needed to taskkill the game to get out of it. To remdy this use the -sw parameter to force the game in windowed mode. After you ran the game once this optional parameter can be removed. You should then be able to play the game in the fullscreen resolution native to your monitor, anything other than the native resolution in fullscreen mode gave me a black screen. The font in the menus is not completely rendered correctly, but ingame i experienced no issues. I also did not get any kicks from VAC which was a nice change.
Game has heavily corrupted graphics with DXVK, and no graphics at all with Wine D3D11. Disabling DX11 has no effect.
Heavily corrupted visuals in the main menu combined with a freeze in a way that is hard to get out from
The game launches and is fully playable, however the game suffers from massive texture issues making it very difficult to play. Texture transparency does not work proper, and other textures including entire segments of the floor are messing. Issue is likely related to the Mesa driver lacking recent Vulkan features.
The game runs perfectly on Proton 3.7, however in the Proton 3.16 beta the game crashes on Launch. To play this game downgrade proton if your participating in the beta.
