Doesnt even start up.
When pressing 'play' in steam, it simply acts like its starting up, just to immediately show the 'play' button again. No window even pops up.
Besides a few hitches, runs pretty great
Runs Great! Just make sure during the install to ignore that message about your drive not having enough space. You may need to tinker with Flatpak permissions in order for Steam to see your other drive you keep your games on. A good link to look at is the proton Q&A Section on github.
Make sure to run proton 4.11 though as I have heard 5 has issues.
Runs perfectly fine for Vanilla Skyrim. If using mods (SKSE) make sure to check with the SKSE section here on the protonDB for tweak instructions.
Used the following launch options.
'PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" RADV_PERFTEST=aco %command%'
Performance is excellent but you must have some things in order in addition to the launch options
Install xboxdvr or game will crash within 5 minutes. Make sure its running in the background. To ensure this, I ran this command after install in a terminal window in Fedora 31
'xboxdrv -D --detach-kernel-driver --silent --dbus disabled'
Disable Vsync IN GAME. This will essentially eliminate all the ridiculous stutter and make everything much more smooth
Set your max FPS IN GAME. If you don't do this, it will skyrocket your resources. I have a 144hz monitor so conveniently I chose that as my max in game.
If you follow all of this (At least on Fedora 31) your game should run smooth as butter. Only noticable difference from windows is some initial stutter when loading in some maps for the first time. Other than that, it runs fantastic.
A lot of instruction in other reviews fails to mention disabling vsync and setting a max fps in game. Those, in conjunction with the rest of the steps I listed, make for a perfectly enjoyable and top notch experience that barely differs from running native in Windows. Will update if I run into any snags.
Was able to install, and run the game, but not able to play due to extreme stutterring even with lowest of settings. Figure this has to be some sort of config issue on my end seeing as how no one else is experiencing it. May just be a Red hat / fedora issue. But regardless, it was not playable even after following the launch options already posted here.
All related to my performance issues I believe and pulse audio.
Extreme stutterring, slowdowns
