It was install and click play, no tinkering necessary whatsoever.
Starts both in DX11 and DX12 modes perfectly, runs great but EAC is going to kick you from the server continuously
kicks you from session every ~30 seconds
Tested on: Proton-6.14-GE-2
i needed to follow previously posted tips. i followed this: https://cialu.net/how-to-install-and-play-elite-dangerous-on-linux/ When i got the message telling me the launcher could not open i followed this: https://github.com/redmcg/wine-mono/wiki#with-protontricks
After ending both pages instructions launcher and game opened correctly and everything worked fine.

It stutters quite a bit with supersampling on normal (ultra settings) but with supersampling on balanced or performance it runs perfectly.
I'm not counting it against proton because i also get stutters on windows so it is most likely game optimization issues.

Worked out of the box, played in co-op, no issues.
Does not work - this game uses Easy AntiCheat most likely that's the cause.
The game runs normally, just install and click play Also confirmed that official R18+ patch for the steam version installs and works fine.
I just changed proton to version 6.16-GE-1 didn't mess with anything else.
