I have massive artificating on screen when certain graphical options are enabled such as reflections or shadows.
It works and is playable but the fact that high graphics is impossible is a deal breaker for me. But I think newer versions of proton will sort that out.
gamescope -w 1920 -h 1080 -W 1920 -H 1080 -U -b -- %command%
The artificating seems to be related to reflections of the sun on items. However I noticed after very long play sessions it seems to become heavier and less stable. Not a problem for casual players.
I had a weird bug where a chunk had some terrain streching into the sky infinitely, this was odd and seems to rarely occur.
I did not test with a easy anti-cheat enabled server! However with a server that does not offer easy anti-cheat it worked great! The only issue I had may have been a game bug. I died for everyone on the server but was still interacting with the game while dead as my game thought I was alive.
My last report did not mention that the game was running with GLCORE which is awful. Launching the game launcher and setting the graphics to DirectX 11 fixes these issues and provides a fantastic experience.
You wouldn't notice the difference between Linux and Windows, providing no settings are changed that cause bugs.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8.dll=n,b" %command%
When you first run the game it will be a small box with huge black borders around it.
When you change the games resolution you must restart the game as it remains a black fullscreen window.
You must use proton 6.8-3 with the startup parameters otherwise you will be in for quite a surprise and unable to play. I recommend the python script as its a bit faster than manually doing this.
The game will revert to an odd resolution when you try to escape fullscreen.
Was able to play zombies just fine even with workshop maps.
I've not tested the official proton, Glorious Eggroll Proton works fine with this game and I think it runs great! Performance is not the same as on Windows but the framerate is well above 60.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 taskset -c 0-5 %command%
Runs perfectly on GE Proton above 60 fps consistently and rare stutter, I did try steam's proton but it has more often stutter. I've been playing this game for a few hours after just owning it and I am able to play as intended.
So glad this appears to be playable without tinkering, I would still tinker to get the best experience.
The game used to run but now will constantly crash unless proton logging mode is enabled! This is terrible for disk space.
gamemoderun %command%
I tried enabling proton logging mode as someone else suggested and it amazingly fixed the problem but sadly this is not a fix for me as disk space is tight so i must await a fix. The game randomly crashes now and is unplayable.
AMD_VULKAN_ICD=RADV gamemoderun %command% --launcher-skip -skipStartScreen
Whenever I switched from windowed to fullscreen it caused the game to be stuck minimised. Restarting fixed the issue.
Sometimes the inventory menu causes a crash.
I reported before that the game didn't work however it seems you cannot run this game with amdgpu, it works perfectly with RADV
DXVK_ASYNC=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 gamemoderun %command%
Runs great, I've not tried the native linux version but this windows version runs so well I don't see any visual difference at all.
Fun game but can also be very frustrating. I've not ran into any issues with proton while playing this game.
AMD_VULKAN_ICD=RADV gamemoderun %command%
Lower framerate than expected but doesn't hurt the experience.
Running on AMDGPU the game runs awful. However running with RADV the framerate is fantastic.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 gamemoderun %command%
Sometimes things may render incorrectly while loading in and out.. Might be caused by dxvk_async
The game minimises itself on start, simply alt tab or click into it and it works flawlessly from there.
Certain in-game areas cause small stuttering while others might cause big stutters. For the most part this is minor.
After very very long sessions, Almost a day in playtime it can cause system instability for me. Not a problem for average users.
Small sessions are excellent, large sessions do have some slight slow down for me. Not an issue.
You don't need a custom proton to play this, however I do recommend it for better performance. The game runs perfectly which is amazing.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 gamemoderun %command%
This crackling doesn't happen often and is not noticable.
Alt tabbing out of the game fixed the issue of fullscreen not fully being on screen.
Do not alt tab out of the game while it is running it can cause the game to crash. However it lets you alt tab out of it on start up without issue.
I don't have any issues with this game, stuttering was fixed by adding dxvk_async=1 and this game is really buggy and broken but in a fun way. Worth playing on Linux.
Runs great, for me the linux version doesn't scale to my screen properly and breaks when I attempt to fix it. The Windows version via proton runs much better.
If it works for you then you'll love this game, but for me it decides when it wants to launch.
PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command%
I tried a ton of different things such as dll overrides and even changing windows version.
Sometimes distant plants would have a white box fade out, I'm assuming that is supposed to be a 2d image that it switches to 3d as you get closer. No big deal
After a reboot and changing nothing with my system. The game fails to launch due to wine being unable to load vulkan. I've tested this and vulkan is working fine? Strange problem.
I was able to play with a friend and nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
I was only able to get it running on proton-ge and even then this game chooses when it wants to run.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=1 gamemoderun %command%
While voice recognition doesn't work yet, the fine people contributing to the WINE project are starting to slowly implement whats needed for voice recognition and I strongly believe this game will eventually get a higher rating than gold.
Runs perfectly fine for myself excluding the common issue of having no voice recognition.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=1 gamemoderun taskset -c 0-7 %command%
Playing the game above 720p on the GTX 970 will result in pretty bad performance, this is due to the cards low vram but also possibly due to proton as other experience this same issue.
Runs fine at 720p upscaled, most of the performance problems are this cards limited 4 GB of vram, and a tiny bit of it is proton almost being perfect, Excited to see future updates from them.
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 taskset -c 0-4 %command%
Pretty certain this game deserves a higher rating now, runs fine with the tweaks applied.
If you don't mind ignoring the TV Show version of the story and are willing to put up with occasional crashes this runs as good as windows.
WINE_DO_NOT_CREATE_DXGI_DEVICE_MANAGER=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_STRENGTH=2 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR_MODE=ultra gamemoderun taskset -c 0-9 %command%
The game seems to freeze and crash when you reach the end of a act and sometimes very rarely the end of a part. However this happens after the game has already saved that you beat it and isn't a problem other than a minor annoyance.
The startup parameter WINE_DO_NOT_CREATE_DXGI_DEVICE_MANAGER=1 does fix videos in this game, however the TV Show aspect of the game is just a black screen (This might be some online DRM issue)
If you don't tinker most videos are either black or corrupt when playing, and the crashing is pretty bad. But if you love these types of games you will still enjoy the game. I'm using AMD FSR as the built in upscaler hurts performance and looks worse at 1440p
Sadly wont run, odd because the base game runs fine on wine.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
tried disabling start up video in options.ini
Welp, I couldn't get it to run no matter what I've tried... Something proton/vendor related? The original game outside of steam works fine...
Game simply crashes with "Memory Violation Error." before anything even displays.
The game doesn't function, regardless of how many people talk bad about this game I wanted to be the guy to say we can finally play this.
When the game froze I could not escape until it started responding again.
Mouse easily escaped the game window when it shouldn't of.
The game randomly freezes and will not unfreeze until I alt tab out of the game and back in..
Game will no longer run after initial play through. The game will also consistantly freeze for no apparent reason.
This game doesn't work properly with older (Proton 5.0-10) or newer (Proton 7.0-1) versions of proton. It has a lot of issues to be addressed before being playable. I also cannot launch the game at all since changing the graphical settings.
Other than flicking runs fine.
Alot of models and textures have some flickering seems to be clipping issues I don't think its an issue on Windows.
I've had this game crash a few times but seems to be after hours of playtime.
This game is fantastic, if you've never played it before this is a great way to get into the game as it comes with the base game and new content. The only issue I see here is the flickering.
