No issues what so ever when you start it through Steam itself.
Awful frame drops when the game is loading new areas.
I couldn't start the game under kernel 5.3 but 5.4 solved that.
Because I run Mesa 19.3.1 I activated the ACO compiler in the starting options with "RADV_PERFTEST=aco %command%".
In the launch options I had to add "PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=40" (without ") to remove the crackling. Some Audio is very quiet.
I use Mesa 21.1-devel and Proton Experimental so beware of that and it works as intended. For every openSUSE user you can find the dev version of Mesa here: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:khnazile:video/Mesa
Another invasive "Anti-Cheat" strikes again!
New update added a new invasive "Anti-Cheat" called Denuvo Anti-Cheat, it's on the same level as BattleEye, EasyAntiCheat and this shit Valorant is using. All those ROOTKITS running at ring-0 kernel level on Windows, and that's making the multiplayer unplayable on Linux.
With Doom Eternal it's even required for Singleplayer and thus the whole game is not playable!
Good out-of-the-box experience.
Opens on the far left monitor, fixable with KDE Plasma's window rules.
Without the Media Foundation fix (or GloriousEggroll's Proton) you miss out on one intro video and tutorial videos in the menu.
Login to GOG possible, but after that blackscreen with menu sound.
The newest version of the GloriousEggroll Proton is required because it has the Media Foundation fix build in.

If you use the standard Proton from Volvo (5.0.7 at the time I'm writing this) you have to go through the hassle of installing the Media Foundation fix by yourself, that means installing mf-install and probably mf-installcab.
Without the Media Foundation fix you get a black screen after the login with sound in the background.
Works out-of-the-box absolutely perfect, it runs better/faster and the frames are more stable than on Windows.
Because I'm running Mesa 19.3.1 I activated the new ACO compiler with the launch option "RADV_PERFTEST=aco %command%".
