With Steam's Proton 6.3-x I've been playing more than 160 hours
The only problems I had were related to Nvidia drivers, crashes with 470.xx where it would fill up all my memory, some with 465.xx and very rarely, sometimes once a day with 495.xx. Happening not just with Death Stranding. Beside that no issues and the only parameter I use is gamemoderun.
Crashing with Proton 7.0-1 right after the Body Disposal first scene/sequence, but not with Proton Experimental. The game is runs smoothly
gamemoderun %commmand%
Running beautifully. Just played the intro until Central Knot City. I'll report more, since I will play it from the beginning again.
gamemoderun %command%
Importing the save game from the normal version required to reinstall the previous version just to export it and had to copy it manually to the new version's folder
Windows gamers are also reporting various crashes
Trying with te controller it crashes more frenquently
Too many crashes even after the only patch. Also reported by Windows gamers. Some bugs (crashing ones) from the previous game are present, but are making the new version crash more.
No need for Launch parameters. I played more than 150 hours.
Worked with 5.x and 4.x series (did not test with 3.x) and worked even better on Fedora 5.6.17-fsync.
Works for me on Fedora 31 and 32 as it works on Windows10. From Kernel 5.3.x to 5.6.3.
Inconsistency when playing. Sometimes it opens and runs almost smooth, others extremely slow without any hardware, driver or software change. It's known that NMS is not optimized enough, but sometimes starting the game is a lottery. BUT in Windows it happens, with less frequency, but happens.
But also on Windows with the same frequency
On a laptop enable Prefer Maximum Performance at NVIDIA'S X Server Settings. Disabling TLP also helps in some cases.
No problems with WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90
The launcher is not being showed properly but works. The game won't launch if D3D12 is enabled.
gamemoderun %command%
In Vulkan mode: Stutters, some changes on graphical settings made no difference in the performance
Crashed 4-5 times in 2 hours, BUT it most certain related to pipewire. Not sure if I will be able to switch to Pulseaudio
DirectX12 won't work, change it to Vulkan in the launcher before clicking Play
RADV_PERFTEST=sam,rt VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 ENABLE_GAMESCOPE_WSI=1 gamescope -w 1920 -W 1920 -h 1080 -H 1080 -r 60 -o 60 --expose-wayland -f --
Running with GE-Proton9.13 and the launch options on both Gnome 46 and Hyprland: ENABLE_GAMESCOPE_WSI=1 gamescope -w 1920 -W 1920 -h 1080 -H 1080 -r 60 -o 60 --expose-wayland -f --
Runs perfectly with Valve's and GloriousEggRoll's Proton
Just be very careful (not just for this game, but for every one), to have a backup of your save before toggling between Proton versions.
Using as Launch Options PROTON_USE_DXVK=1 %command% or PROTON_USE_DXVK=1 gamemoderun %command% getting 52-60 FPS at Ultra settings.
