it's uplay, difficult starting experience, and slow. not worth it imo
alt tab sucks
you have to install the fix to disable the macos addon
some times on starting. game takes up so much system usage that it locks up my entire system. then it makes it difficult to quit out of the game
25 fps on low graphics during cutscenes
load simulator 2020
The game is poorly programmed for even windows computers. there's a lot of reports on the steam community
Got passed the first few introductory missions and got a white screen when looking at the center of the map, making me unable to proceed
have to set to 30fps and low graphics to avoid lag spikes
After the first launch, the game would refuse to start up again. it was running in the background and needed to be killed manually This can be remedied by deleting "VkPipelineCache.bak" and "VkPipelineCache.bin" in the "ShaderCache" folder in the main folder
It works but you can't play online and you have to tinker a little bit (copy files around)
cp start_protected_game.exe stpg.exe.bak cp eldenring.exe start_protected_game.exe
credit to Wolnos in the github issue tracker
EAC and the tinkering stops you from playing online at the moment. no clue if that'll ever change
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/5613
cp start_protected_game.exe stpg.exe.bak
cp eldenring.exe start_protected_game.exe
Thanks to Wolnos
Coming back after alt tabing has some weirdness
I had an issue with black screen but all I had to do was delete my game folder and reinstall
If I can't get a stable framerate throughout on a beefy pc. I can't imagine the average linux gamer's pc being able to play this game
I don't have a windows pc to test so this may not be linux specific. There were some areas where there was a large explosion but didn't make a "boom" sound. just misc vehicle crashing sounds The majority of audio is playing fine though
Given I'm on the second fastest GPU on the market and the fastest gaming cpu, I'd expect this to play 144fps 4k pretty easily. It almost never went past 60fps and had lows as low as 15fps in some cutscenes. I know it's not being frame limited to 60 since there were brief spikes to 80fps GPU was at 100% utilization and CPU never really went past 15% total utilization (~2.4 cores)
works after proton experimental
native version had 20-30 fps. proton experimental had better fps
