A recent patch to the game broke it for Proton versions below 5.13-2. From that version onwards it works perfectly. At time of writing that's the latest official Proton release built in to Steam so all is good.
ALMOST - but not quite. Big blocks of colour blocking most of the screen make it unplayable. The parts of the screen I can see appear to be responding correctly.
With the latest version of Evil Genius 2 everything now works without need for workarounds or custom launch commands. Great!
Ultra wide not supported and 2560x1440 is stretched to fit 3440x1440, which looks a bit rough. I don't think that's a Proton issue though, I'd expect the same happens on Windows. It could be fixable if I could find the game's configuration files.
Performance is OK on modern hardware. I had 50 to 90fps with graphics maxed out. Game is badly optimized so that's what passes for really good.
No window opens, game has to be killed in the background
Glorious Egg Roll 5.8 fixed the game perfectly
Install xact via winetricks / protontricks to fix the broken sound.
The world map is a blurry mess. It doesn't affect gameplay much but it's painful to look at. Because of this it is a Silver and not a Gold.
