Calling this playable would be inaccurate, the framerate fluctuates wildly and never goes above 50FPS for me.

Pretty much unplayable even on the lowest settings
Tried various techniques listed by others like disabling texture-streaming but this game just runs very badly.
GloriousEggroll
Basically unplayable framerate, both with the native client and running in Proton
Crashes frequently depending on Proton version
This game boasts a native client which runs even worse than significantly more graphically-intensive games running under Proton. It's clearly very badly optimised. I tried both the native client and the Windows client running under various Proton versions and nothing could get over 40FPS at 1080p. By contrast I can run numerous other games at 4K without trouble.
Runs great both natively and in Proton
Allow Tearing
When running in Proton it connects with PC and Xbox players without issue.
My last report for this was 3 years ago and it was basically unplayable. These days it runs perfectly on a Steam Deck both natively and in Proton. Recommend playing in Proton so that you can join shared lobbies with PC and Xbox players.
Proton-5.9-GE-3-ST GloriousEggroll
Latest GloriousEggroll 5.9 stable release
I can run this in any size window in an i3 desktop and it scales itself perfectly. It runs very well.
No improvement from previous reviewer after many tweaks
I have the same issues as the previous reviewer after applying a number of tweaks, such as protontricks 1202540 corefonts d3dx9_36 dotnet40 ffdshow quartz vcrun6
and installing LAVFilters.
Finally got this working. Needs an older version of Proton (not sure why) and wmp9 installed via protontricks to get the videos working.

flatpak run com.github.Matoking.protontricks 1202540 wmp9
Been 3 years since I got this running on a Linux desktop. However using that same setup today on my Steam Deck no longer works, and the critical change was reported by @eewsam: switch to Proton 5.0-10. After that, you'll need to install wmp9 using protontricks and change the launch options. It then seems to run perfectly fine. Note that Proton 5.13-6 doesn't work, and you'll likely need to remove that if you previously installed it as the major versions being the same seems to cause some sort of conflict; or at least it did for me.
Takes a long time to start, crashes after Atlus splash screen
Tried it with various Proton versions including GloriousEggroll's. It eventually launched under Proton 5.0.1, seemingly randomly, and then crashes on a black screen after the Atlus logo and a TV icon appear.

I'm using JACK for audio which apparently bypasses some audio crackling issues.
GameGuard throws an NP0 error
Can get it to start up the game, you'll see the SEGA logo appear, and then it crashes out due to almost certainly a GameGuard issue (because it's a terrible pile of garbage).
Seems to work fine once dropped back to Proton 5.13-6. By default the controls don't work on the current version. Other versions may work too but the most recent builds certainly didn't.
Proton-5.8-GE-2-MF GloriousEggroll
Crashes within a few minutes on standard Proton versions. The GloriousEggroll version runs it very well, though.
