Still borked due to EAC.
Installs, starts to run but closes after EAC window pops up. There is less and less excuse now to not enable EAC in the game from the developers. All it takes is clicking on a button now... so Respawn?
I believe Season 21's update broke something in the game with the weapon hiccups and clay models/no textures (using official or GE Proton).
%command% -dev -novid -preload -high +m_rawinput 1 +fps_max unlimited +exec custom.cfg
Skins take time to load on models. They show clay models for 5 to 10 seconds. Other textures are fine.
Hiccups / freezes for ~2 seconds when picking up weapons in-game
Current bugs are annoying, otherwise the game plays fine. Without those glitches the game runs perfectly with smooth high framerates.

Sometimes weapons in the inventory appear as shadows but show up later.
Use PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command% -NoStartupMovies -notexturestreaming
in the launch settings.
Make sure to disable/remove any virtual or bridge network adapters, else the game will timeout when connecting to online matches (coop, etc.) I had to kill all my VirtualBox background processes for vmnet to remove the interfaces using sudo killall vmnet-*
. Others have also suggested to remove libvirtd's interfaces with sudo virsh net-autostart --disable default
Install Paladins (it's Free to Play) and it should download the Easy Anti Cheat binaries quickly. Go to your ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/downloading/444090/Binaries/EasyAntiCheat/ folder and copy the EasyAntiCheat_x64.dll and EasyAntiCheat_x32.dll to ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/DRAGON BALL FighterZ/EasyAntiCheat/, replacing the existing ones. Run DBZ and it should start installing EasyAntiCheat, DirectX, VC Runtime etc and will launch perfectly. Everything is working on max settings at 4K. No stuttering in sound or video.
Install via Steam app and play away. Runs out of the box @4K most settings on maximum. Anti-alias slows everything down at 4K, so I just play without it as it's not really needed. Works flawlessly.
Installed and ran out of the box, in 4K High and was really smooth around 40FPS. Dropped it to 2K Ultra (minus realtime reflections) and I can run at around 55 to 60 FPS for a more fluid experience. There is very minimal stutter from time to time, nothing that will prevent you from enjoying the game.
Works well on Linux, just make sure to use the latest Proton 8 and install the vcrun2019 via protontricks. Everything else works perfectly.
Run protontricks 824270 vcrun2019
Works well in 4K high (about 40-50 fps) but changing to medium quality gives a constant 60 fps. Everything seems to be working perfectly for the moment.
Runs perfectly at max FPS, 4K all max settings. Online match works very well. Had to install DotNet 4.0 runtime though. If you are using the Steam Native runtime for your distro, I'd suggest switching to Steam's own runtime.
This is how I got Paladins to work:
» Install protontricks (available in AUR) or get it from GitHub. » Run Steam in Native mode at least once (via shell with "STEAM_RUNTIME=1 steam"). This will unpack the native runtimes and launch Steam. You can exit Steam. » Run "protontricks 444090 dotnet40" in the shell. This will install DotNet 4.0 runtime. Let the installer complete. » Run Steam as you normally would and launch Paladins. The installer will complain about Windows XP SP3 but you can ignore that. The game will start and run! » Enjoy!
