Ammending my previous report. Kovaaks is perfectly playable. You can use the default proton runtime without any issues. I simply use hotfix for nvidia reflex. The problem I had previously with mouse clicks not registering was related to libinput Middle Mouse Emulation being enabled for my device. Disabling that remedied any input issues I had with Kovaaks. Have continued to break high scores and not feel limited by my hardware.
There is just some very infrequent crashes and lag that seems to happen randomly which do NOT happen with the default steam runtime.

Runs perfectly when selecting the most recent stable version of proton manually
not sure why the rating is silver -- it seems like a lot of other reports were over-tinkered

Playable for tracking practice ONLY
Infrequent and episodic lag that can only be remediated with a restart of the game
I've tested this thoroughly. If you click too quickly KovaaK's will not register the click. Tested on two different razer mice. At 1000hz/2000hz. Wired and wireless. No compositor. No vsync. Tried multiple proton versions. Reflex ON/OFF. Nothing fixes it. It is not a debounce issue with libinput.
Weirdly enough, every click registers when traversing the in-game menu but not when actively shooting targets.

Surprised!
I was a bit nervous with the Silver rating, but it has been running perfectly out of the box.

Works without issues
Sometimes window wasn't focused on launch (can't click on anything), just have to half-tab to fix.
aim training gaming

Works great! Maybe better than on windows

Perfectly playable
Game works absolutely perfectly. No issues playing, messing around with settings, input lag, etc.

Everything runs like it should. Works the same way it does on Windows, except on Linux there is slightly less input lag which makes my aim more precise (Running X11 without compositing). Really enjoyable experience.

Worked exactly as it does on Windows, it's just an aim trainer, its significantly better to use the newer you are to mouse and keyboard.
Helps you drastically if you follow routines and target your weaknesses, use Voltaic benchmarks to find those and VDIM from them to improve

gamemoderun %command%
works out of the box
Works perfectly. No performance or stability issues. Can download playlists and scenarios. Can upload scores. All works fine.
Runs exactly as expected out of the box.

online playlists and leaderboards don't show up despite being online and this makes it almost impossible to use as an actual aim trainer but the reccomended and local scenarios and everything else works perfectly fine

Works out of the box now after 2023-08-10 update.

ran protontricks 824270 vcrun2019
Needed to set a beta previously but seems like they removed the anti-cheat that was causing versions after 2.05 to stop working, so now I can run it after running the protontricks 824270 vcrun2019
Installed "vcrun2022" with Protontricks
Works smooth as butter. Once compositor is disabled there is no input lag at all. I didn't encounter any stutters or problems even without launch commands.
gamemoderun %command% v_blankmode = 0
The game requires the Visual C++ 2019 Runtime, which has to be installed using protontricks 824270 vcrun2019
.

Issue
№ 1
Most of the time, I am required to use the Super + Alt + kp-up
Gnome shortcut to display all workspaces/desktops and change from there, as after pressing Alt-Tab
the game gets focus instantly again.
№ 2
The game is launched with one or two extra windows, both labeled "OpenGL Renderer", that are empty but can be occasionally focused on.
The game runs at an acceptable framerate over 144fps for me, without any graphical glitches, and is seamless if not the windowing issues.
It used to work fine, now it's borked
gamemoderun mangohud
Installed every vcrun to try running the game
Older Beta version runs fine but doesn't have Online leaderboards. Current version after anti cheat removal was workin fine, but now it always gives me error about missing Visual C++ . I used Protontricks to get all of them installed and yet the game still won't run. Same error occurs on Proton 8.0.1, GE-Proton7-55 and Proton Experimental. I'll play around with it more and see if I can fix it, or it fixes itself eventually.

Works well on Linux, just make sure to use the latest Proton 8 and install the vcrun2019 via protontricks. Everything else works perfectly.
Run protontricks 824270 vcrun2019
v_blankmode = 0
protontricks 824270 vcrun2019
if it still gives an error (c++ runtime), try to run the command again and reboot the computer
-After instalation, at the first start, i get something like this message: "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime needed" To fix it, i have intall protontricks with flathub https://flathub.org/apps/com.github.Matoking.protontricks Then, i haver install the following dll "vcrun2019" (In protontricks, many error message that said my wintricks wasn't up to date but this dosn't matter)
-Kovaak's was unable to load online scenarios. I didn't find fix to it but i bypass this issue by downloading manually from the steamworkshop using steamcmd and this website: https://steamworkshopdownloader.io/ Then paste the downloaded scenario ".sce" in the appropriate folder: Steam/steamapps/common/FPSAimTrainer/FPSAimTrainer/Saved/SaveGames/Scenarios
/home/USER/PATH/TO/Steam/steamapps/common/FPSAimTrainer/FPSAimTrainer/Binaries/Win64/FPSAimTrainer-Win64-Shipping.exe
protontricks 824270 vcrun2019
New rebase has fixed all issues with KovaaK's, works perfectly now.
Proton 8.0.1 just fixed KovaaKs for me.
Since removal of EQU8, can get to menu but cannot receive inputs
v_blankmode = 0
Manually installed Visual C++ runtimes usign protontricks to get past initial error
I had to manually install visual C++ runtimes to avoid the initial startup error. I did this using protontricks and choosing the Kovaak's prefix. Even with v_blankmode = 0
and various other launch options (including trying with gamescope), I could not click anything in game once at the menu. Keyboard did not seem to do anything either.
Since the anticheat has been removed, I feel we are significantly closer to getting this working at full potential again.

Borked due to EAC/EQU8 implementation. Earlier versions do not work anymore.
Get AimBeast or AimLab instead
Did the recomended tweaks, does not work for me. Freezes as soon as it starts on a transparent window with black cursor.

Broken due to EAC integration
Proton experimental/GE/7.0/others, downgrading game version, etc.
As others have mentioned, Kovaak's has not been functional for over a year now, due to their handling of EAC.

Game stuck a t steam loading screen in gaming mode If you switch to desktop mode it presents the anti-cheat window that prevents proceding into the game

- Experimental
- 6.3-8
Always the same result

Using Beta "2.0.5.3 - Patch from Aug 2, 2021" worked smoothly
it asks you to download their anticheat but no matter if you click cancel or ok a black screen will show for a split second and music plays
Doesn't work, broken unless you like the title screen music

Requires switching to a previous beta version (2.0.5.3) to launch properly. Workshop is half-functional and requires manual extraction.
requires workaround for workshop to function
In order to get workshop working, you can subscribe to them like normal. Then, in the workshop content folder (appid 824270) you must move the individual scene files into the Kovaak's scenarios directory, located intuitively in the games install dir. If the downloaded content is properly moved to the scenarios folder but not present ingame, you must open the scenario file with a text editior and change its minimum version to be compatible. These scenarios might be incompatible entirely though, so if you crash or cannot load a scenario you know why.

With leaderboard submissions missing, it kind of removes the competitive aspect that makes KovaaK's rewarding.
v_blankmode = 0
Use beta 2.0.5.3
Mouse input not detected without using v_blankmode = 0 in launch args
Leaderboard doesn't work with old beta as EQU8 anticheat isn't working
The game as it's downloaded from steam doesn't launch or only launches to a black screen. The 2.0.5.3 beta must be used to get the game running, and even then the leaderboard features are missing due to anticheat not working correctly. It can still be used as an aim trainer quite effectively, though.
On initial launch, it prompts to install UE4 prerequisites. After that, nothing happens.
When trying to launch the game for a second, third, ... time nothing happens at all.

Used Beta 2.0.5.3 from Aug 2, 2021 [Works Perfectly]
