Needed to fix multiplayer with the desync patch available for linux, this fixed the multiplayer freezing. Been playing MP since this fix and it runs perfectly.
Game used to work perfectly fine, since last update it keeps crashing and not working

Not sure what Respawn did, but since their last patch Apex has been super buggy. I got it working a few times with the setings I have, but now it just gets stuck loading, dumps memory core, and closes. I've tried re-installing, a billion different proton versions, etc... Looks like it's borked for now... Bummer because it worked forever flawlessly. Looks like they did somethig to their Anti-cheat that's making it way more finicky.
EA Flipped the Anticheat switch off for linux. It's over guys...
RIP APEX on linux
Needed to add "dwrite.dll" using protontricks
The game out of the box plays well if you use GE Proton, however, in order to really enjoy this game you need to install Content Manager and it can be quite a mission to do so in Linux since it's a third party Windows app for a Windows game. Followed this video and it worked perfectly with Content Manager https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qy_RQr8LbM&t=645s
Literally installed it and ran it. 0 Tinkering required. Running max settings with butter smooth FPS
gamemoderun %command% -nosplash -skipintro
Needed to disable Hardware AA to get smooth performance.
The way I increased my max map count on Linux mint was opening /etc/sysctl.conf using nano as root and adding the line vm.max_map_count=2097152, saved settings and rebooted. It was working perfectly. Just needed to turn off Hardware AA.
Works, but needs optimizing
Low FPS on intense battles
Game works perfectly. I get FPS dips during intense battles and I can't run it at max settings, but it's still in alpha and probably needs optimization. There is not Linux native version as of the time of this writing. However, Knowing Valve, they will make it native on Linux for sure after they optimize it.
gamemodecmd %command%
minor popping when alt-tabbed
Game runs perfectly fine. Was able to run it at ultra settings 0 performance issues. Only setting change I made in-game was actually enable v-sync as it appears the frames get a little choppy without it. This game is weirdly demanding and even on Windows if you don't have pretty modern specs it has major performance issues.
Game worked perfectly fine, just minor stuttering during intense gameplay but nothing that's game breaking.
Minor fps drops during intense combat
gamemodecmd %command%
Massive frame rate issues
PC Completely froze once, had to reboot
I had MASSIVE issues with performance when I played. I did research and found that split-lock detection can cause major performance issues with this game. I ran the command "sudo sysctl kernel.split_lock_mitigate=0" and the game was perfectly buttery smooth. The issue was that after about 30 minutes of playing my PC COMPLETELY locked up. Had to reboot. Maybe doesn't work well with GE proton and may need to try another proton version. Other than the major crash after the fix command above the game ran like butter.
Works perfectly
Game installs, works perfect with the native build. Even have mods subscribed from the workshop and they just "work". Perfectly compatible game.
