Dropped TDP to 4 and GPU clock speeds down to 400
Audio rarely started crackling when the device was put to sleep for an extended period(5-10 minutes).
I played through the entire game on deck and only ran into audio crackling when I put the system to sleep, and that was only a one time experience. You can bump TDP and GPU clocks to their minimum for a slight boost to battery life, but effect heavy scenes will have a noticable impact on fps and I was already getting 5+ hours so I suggest leaving them at my recommended settings. Otherwise, this game is an absolute treat to have running portably.
Changed TDP to 4 Watts
I played through the entirety of the game on deck with zero problems. Game would run fine with TDP set to its minimum since there aren't any effect heavy scenes, but I was still getting 5+ hours of battery at 4 Watts so you probably don't need to worry about it. Solid experience on the system.
Set TDP to 6 Watts
While I finished this game on pc since I vastly prefer M&K for shooters, I did play a fair bit of the game as I was just out and about and had little to no issues. I was worried at first as I had read about the remastered version of the game being a pain with the 2K launcher, but it appears that they removed it on deck with a patch a while back. Game ran at a locked 60fps through all the sections that I played with TDP set to 6 watts. Had a blast exploring Rapture and the deck is a fantastic machine to do it on.
Game boots expecting keyboard input by default so you have to either use the on screen keyboard or a bluetooth one to navigate the settings and set the game to detect controller input
Only issues I had with the game was that it doesn't support cloud saves and I had to use the on screen keyboard to set the input device in the settings, but otherwise I had a flawless experience. Game ran perfectly and I was getting a good 5-6 hours easy without changing tdp or anything. An easy recommend for games to play on deck.
Bound left and right bumpers to their respective top grip buttons
Dropped refresh rate to 40 and TDP to 10
I ran the game with everything set to high except anti-aliasing which I always prefer off. I couldn't get a stable 60 even on low settings so I switched to 40hz refresh rate and only noticed minor frame drops in some of the more graphicly intensive boss fights. Otherwise the game was perfectly playable and smooth with 2 1/2 - 3 hours of battery life.
Battery life was fine on default settings but I dropped refresh rate to 40hz and tdp to 5 watts on a road trip and the deck reported about 4-5 hours on full battery with maxed out screen brightness.
Menus were occasionally unresponsive to controller input requiring multiple attempts before accepting a button press.
Despite having a linux native version steam OS decided to download the windows version which caused issues when navigating the main and pause menus. This issue is resolved with the usage of steam play none, but saves aren't transferable between the linux and windows version so I ended up playing the entire game through proton. I also believe that load times are affected by playing through proton but I didn't play enough of the linux version to come to a conclusive answer. Playing through proton is entirely viable but I would strongly recommend playing on the linux version of the game as to not have to deal with the menu issues.
I moved my psp save over to this version of the game using this https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2920814082 post so I only spent about 30 hours on the game, but in that time I didn't run into any issues with the it. Game wouldn't display in the decks native resolution but that is consistent with the other persona games and wasn't a deal breaker for me. Otherwise performance was flawless and while I didn't make any adjustments to tdp I was still able to get about 5-6 hours in a play session according to the deck. If you're just wanting to play P3P with some minor graphical enhancements than this is an excellent way to do so.
Proton experimental bleeding edge and 40hz refresh rate
Rarely had audio start crackling after putting the system to sleep and waking it back up
Make sure reflections are turned off as they are raytraced when on. Without proton experimental being set to bleeding edge game was playable at 40hz with 75% render scale. However when using bleeding edge 50-60 fps could be achieved with 100% render scale, which I would then cap for a near perfect 40hz expereince.
Played most of the game with 8 watt TDP at smooth 60 but game was perfectly playable at 3-5 watts 40hz if you want to conserve battery
Audio would rarely begin to crackle after putting the console to sleep for a while before picking back up.
As expected for a game that was originally on the vita, this was a fantastic experience on the deck. Ran beutifully at max settings 60fps, though this being a turn-based rpg you certainly don't need the framerate and I still had a good time on the rare occasion that I bumped down the 40hz. Deck was reporting about 5-6 hours of battery life which was more than enough for my play sessions. An all around great time on deck just like the rest of the persona series.
Changed TDP to 8 watts and GPU frequency to 1000. Left screen at 60hz.
With the power settings I selected I got through the second half of this game with zero issues. Was able to get between 2 1/2 to 3 hours on maxed out settings, so you can definitely do better if you lower settings and refresh rate.
