the movies are format wmv reproduce video without audio, no big deal

Ran into a minor issue: Game minimized/lost focus when an achievement was unlocked. It's not much of an issue when it's achievement popups, but if it happens with other Steam notifications it could become pretty annoying.

Visual Studio C++ Redistributable (https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe) and DirectX June 2010 Redistributable (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109).
The game refused to launch on onything other than Proton7. I found that proton GE-7-51 works the best and even the intro cinematic play without any problems. The menu's worked fine but when I would enter the match the whole screen would be green. After I used protontricks to install Visual Studio C++ Redistributable and DirectX June 2010 Redistributable the green screen problem went away and game plays perfectly.
Intro video played fine. Game thin black bars top and bottom for widescreen. Works great.

Cool game, I was able to play a Round Robin tournament online with other 8 players online without issues.
Works like out of the box. Played with Xbox 360 stick and generic Dinput controls.

Voice lines are REALLY low quality
Videos do not play since they are wmv format.
The online worked as expected even with modded gameplay, putting aside the delay-based netcode.
Despite the game currently being listed as supported, the game is totally playable locally as if you were playing on Windows.
Game would display at 30fps, but it would update like it's running at 60fps. This would happen randomly and inconsistently, about twice in my 2 hours of play. It would go back to "playing" at 60fps after a few seconds.
I used a Hori Pro wired fight stick, and I set up my friend with a PS5 controller. It worked surprisingly well.
Though i didn't try online multiplayer, it connected to online services without problems. It had about 5-6 hours of battery life at max screen brightness without any tinkering with the battery life. The Vita port of this game is now entirely outdated thanks to steamdeck, as this is the best way to play this game portably now.
You must use Proton-7.1-GE-2 for this otherwise anime cutscenes won't play or will play but without audio.
Works for offline local on 3.7-8 using 1080p Fullscreen. Does NOT work on majority of newer versions.
Does not display properly unless 1080p Fullscreen
Skips the .wmv intro, does not allow any gallery movies to be played. Running newer versions of Proton causes large black bars to cut off about 40% of the screen vertically in full screen, horizontally in windowed mode. Running 1080p Full Screen in 3.7-8 fixes this and allows the game to be 100% playable offline.
If you can tolerate bad sound quality and not being able to play in windowed mode it can be enjoyable.
Voice and sound effects quality are noticeably lower than on windows.
When playing on windowed mode I get a black bar cutting the image in half.
Couldn't load my Windows cloud save.
The game works right out of the box. Was able to play against another friend over the past few days and it was pretty solid.
Reminder to plug in your controller before launching the game. It's small but its worth noting just in case
Remember to plug in your controller beforehand Its delay based netcode so bear that mind (Affects all platforms anyways)
Works perfectly after you go in and fix the resolution issue
There some window issues with black bars but they are fixed once you change the resolution settings

Graphics issues prevents playable game
After removing the wmv movies from the game I was able to get into the main menu, however multiple issues remain such as a black bar covering the right side of the screen, no ability to change the resolution without crashing, and the fights themselves showing nothing but a green screen.
Works great, even the videos in gallery can be played now. I have yet to test it online though.
The game will crash if you Alt-Tab or change workspaces, but only when fullscreen
As stated before, the game will crash with Alt+Tab in fullscreen
Game Works Well Most of the Time
By default, the game launches in a window and it suffers from a black bar that blocks the screen until the resolution is changed.
Occasionally, being tabbed out for too long or at random point in gameplay, the screen gets stuck on a frame and you can't see anything that's going on.
The Steam overlay also stops working properly when this happens.
Works perfect out of the box. No issues with online multiplayer at all.

5.9-GE-3-ST GloriousEggroll
protontricks 801630 quartz
Everything works perfectly:
- Intro movie (as well as other movies in the gallery)
- Single player (I've completed several characters arcade modes)
- Multiplayer
- Buying & viewing stuffs in the gallery
- Booted up on the X primary monitor when launched on another monitor
- Problems with full screen mode displaying properly.
- Ran in windowed mode 1440p perfectly and wasn't troublesome to maintain afterwards.
Experienced some pauses in online games, but ran smoothly for the most part.
Tested with TE2 fightstick and worked out of the box without any additional configuration.
Works perfectly after changing resolution.
Black bars on either right or bottom half of screen when resolution is 720p with clr update. Changing resolution to 1080p fixes this.

Runs perfectly but alt-tab during a match crashes the game, during menus is fine. Online works as well.

Game works perfectly but there is no video (Ex: intro animation)

Working nice out of box. Multiplayer not tested.

Game seems most stable when running under Proton 3.16-9. Movies don't work, but the game is fully playable otherwise including online. Later versions of Proton work fine in windowed mode, but often crash or display glitched graphics when running in full screen mode.

Plays right out of the box with no discernible increase in input latency as compared to Windows. Played just fine with a Hori Fighting Edge fight stick. Only minor issue is that movies do not play.

cutscenes don't play, everything else is flawless

All modes including Network work perfectly. Was able to play online with no problems at all. haven't tried hosting a server but I would guess based on everything else it works fine. One very minor drawback is no steam cloud saves, so you'll have to redo any previously cleared missions, colors, or other collectables unlocked. Will save things unlocked in the linux version however.

60fps at 1440p - Arcade/Mission/Time Attack all work perfectly.

Runs perfectly but the videos don't work. The game itself is perfectly playable

Runs perfectly. Videos in gallery don't play, therefore rating Silver.

Worked flawlessly out of the box, except for WMV-Video Cutscenes. Performance is good & Playable even on low end Intel-GPU's

Works perfectly except for videos in gallery do not work and alt + tab crashes the game. Used a Hori Real Arcade Pro 4 Kai and played various single player modes.

had 1 sound related lockup in Arcade mode but couldn't reproduce it; videos in gallery only give black screen; Netplay has issues (but that seems to be unrelated to Linux), going by all the complaints from Windows users in the forum, the game seems to work as well/badly in Proton as on Windows.
