Great loading times. Same experience as windows.
Runs even better than windows. Perfect - zero issues!!
Absolutely perfect, RUNS BETTER THAN WINDOWS (I have over 1k hours on both linux and windows), use proton-experimental.

Thank you valve for making gaming on Linux possible.

Game runs better than on windows, much faster specifically. Pretty much touch and go aside from the startup options.

Normal Vic2 windowing issues (fixed with the Borderless fix)

Doesn't work, it's crashing less than one second into the loading screen.
Tried multiple fixes(Different proton versions, launch settings, turning fullscreen off in settings.txt, protontricks), either crash while the loading screen appears or it just doesn't start at all.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command%
Added launch options as recommened by fq and ran Tutorial Fine. Runniung Atari VCS with 16GB 2GB Video RAM allocated.

These are the settings that allowed me to play with GFM, only selected in modlist "Greater Flavor Mod" and "GFM Fantasy Formables Submod", with any other submods the game crashed. Ocassional crashes sometimes but not something unplayable, only tried it for a few hours tho.

PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command%
Vanilla runs just fine with default settings.
HPM also runs fine but some larger mods like GFM don't work.
- If your game crashes, try to re-run the DirectX install script by verifying the game files integrity, and if the music is missing, try running "
protontricks 42960 directmusic
".
Спокойно запустилась на 8.0-4 без дополнительных действий. Alt+Tab не создает проблем.

Ran perfectly using Proton Experimental and Borderless 2560x1440.
Older setup with Nvidia required some tinkering and using earlier version of Proton. Current setup with newer RX card is running great without any changes.

No configuration needed. Just changed to version 7 of proton and everything went smoothly.
This is an issue of my window manager
I had to bypass the paradox launcher in order for the game to work. The menu does launch but it shows only a broken menu that I could not interact with, the solution was to just skip the launcher altogether i.e rename Victoria2.exe to something else and v2game.exe to Victoria2.exe
Turned off fullscreen in settings.txt
Occasional stutter
Fullscreen was buggy and did not always work after alt-tab

The only thing I noticed that was wonky was the movie that plays whenever you install it fresh. Highly recommend deleting the movie file to get to the game faster. It doesn't have any side effects
30 fps
small text but readable
No longer works, even though it used to
Despite tinkering with it incessantly, after a new GPU has been installed and my kernel updated to 5.15 instead of 5.10, the game no longer works on Linux. No matter what I did (attempting to bypass the launcher, using different versions of Proton, using protontricks, using various launch options etc.) ever made it able to even get to the main menu.
protontricks 42960 d3dx9
Had to switch to Proton 6.3-8 to get the Launcher to appear (otherwise would just crash with no screen appearing).
Once that was working, the game would crash while loading the map sprites--to get that to work, I tried two things: I used protontricks: "protontricks 42960 d3dx9" And I verified the integrity of the game files, which reset the install script and prompted the game to reinstall DirectX, which it hadn't done the first time around. This fixed the map sprites crash.
THEN, the game would crash while initializing the map logic, saying it was missing a file with a .cpp extension--another user mentioned they were only using A House Divided like I was, so I figured what the hell, let's get the rest of the DLC, and by installing Heart of Darkness I was able to get past that crash and into the game (apparently it had the files it was looking for).
So just bear in mind this game will basically blackmail you for $10-20 until you either buy all the DLC or shut all DLC off to make it run.
Plays more or less out of the box, although for mods you need to rename the exe to bypass the launcher and use the launch options.
-mod=mod/modname.mod
Alt tabbing sometimes buggy
Game always crashed after reaching 1st January 1860

Map artifacts on DXVK. Can be fixed with WineD3D.
Under DXVK, some mods crash after "Loading flags". WineD3D flag will fix this.
Tested with ZeroTier.
I suggest playing with gamescope since this game might stop working if you minimize. This isn't specific to Linux/Proton.
DXVK problems are specific to my PC specifications. Players with newer hardware most likely won't need to use WineD3D but it's a good tweak to make in case anything goes wrong.

Works great out of the box, and the launcher even works for the mods
Using Proton Experimental
Multiplayer does not work because it launches with different checksums fsr. The rest works fine out of the box.
Works perfectly, zero issues.
"File Exeption: Exception in virtualfilesytem.cpp, line 624. Description: File not found."
To fix, just run the game without any DLC first. Worked for me.

Crashes on loading screen when it gets to maplogic.
Proton 6.3-8
It pulls up an error message saying, "File Exeption: Exception in virtualfilesytem.cpp, line 624. Description: File not found."
I'm only using A House Divided, maybe if I used HOD as well it work.
Game plays fine. Font on loading bars looks a little strange.
It runs pretty well
Game runs just fine. Mod support works out of the box.
Music is completely missing. SFX still works.
Cuando selecciono la opción para adelantar el tiempo baja los FPS de 60 a 40-45 no estoy muy seguro si es un problema de mi equipo o si, por el contrario, es un error de proton por las dudas lo mencionó.
Save game transfer in multiplayer broken?
In a multiplayer game if I host it I won't be able to load and transfer a save game to any player because it gets stuck at 99%, I don't know why and nobody seems to have noticed it.

The game runs very well.
Previous versions of Proton didn't work for me, but Proton 6.3-7 does the trick.
HPM works. Vanilla starts up but I didn't try to play the game unmodded
Actually works flawlessly, despite its age.
The game runs good enough ig
Could be due to my cpu not being good enough anyways
Ran perfectly albeit a bit slow
The game ran slightly slower than on windows. The top speed of 5 does not go as fast as it did when I played on windows. Though it was hardly a problem when I played even in the late game
