Game worked well for the time I played it
Still an early access game, so hard to tell if the small (almost nit-picky) UI issues encountered were due to that or something with proton. Leaning towards early access. Everthing works and looks good otherwise.
AA did not render well
Pretty sweet, using GE meant that the Media Foundation patch was automatically applied so you just add it and go!
Maybe I should try with default Proton but GE seems fine and the Proton version flatpak manager makes it super easy to do
Game doesn't even start up

The game plays the same as on Windows, except that the in-game videos are not working when not using mf-install.
mf-install is required to get the in-game videos to play.

Update 15 of Industries of Titan (version 0.18.0) doesn't work for me.
Proton 6.3-7 hangs on black screen. 5.13-6 launches but it doesn't render anything except for the UI.
Works now with proton 6.3-5. Videos still missing.
Videos don't properly play without mf-install
With mf-install, everything works fine.

Intro doesn't play, and game starts with black screen. You can fix this with this setting:
SkipIntroVideos=True
In this file within the pfx:
427940/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/Titan/Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor/GameUserSettings.ini

Too crashy to enjoy. If you're lucky enough to avoid, use of GE's proton will help you see the videos.
6.10-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Custom version of proton (I used 6.10-GE-1
) can be found under releases at https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom
Performance was pretty bad. I was unable to make it any better by tweaking options or using launch flags/env variables for Proton.
Game crashes every time certain UI elements (usually the ones that would be broken w/o using the custom proton version) were recreated.
Clicking the "done" button on tutorial messages got me through to the next ones, up to a certain point. Therefore it seems like some cleanup was not performed unless I clicked the button.
Opening the codex on the main menu suffered similar issues. Opening it would initially work, and switching to any page w/o video elements would work fine, but switching to any second page w/ video elements or back to the original after visiting a page w/o video elements would crash the game.
Game would exit fine after crashing when alt-tabbing and clicking stop in Steam.
You may be able to skip the tutorial but you would likely crash again if/when there are story moments.
In order to use GE's proton version, unzip the release from the github page into /home/you/.steam/steam/compatibilitytools.d/
, then pick it in the settings for the game in the steam client. (rclick game > properties > compatibility > force use of specific tool > pick in dropdown)
Besides the missing videos part, it works as it did when I played it on Windows. Using Proton 6.3-4
Videos from the advisors don't load and instead color bars show up, like old TVs used to do when there is no signal
The game freezes immediately after the advisor is done telling you about bugs, a minute or two into a new game.
Tested on the latest GE release and Proton 6.3-4.
Able to launch the game, could not see entry cinematic. Starting a new game or entering a codex results in crash.
Game freezes after a few seconds ingame
Tried many proton versions and even proton-GE none work. Older proton versions result in a black screen, newer versions run fine until the game freezes after ~10s of gameplay
Running after config modify [Proton 6.3-4]
I had to disable VSync and skip intro in the configuration, otherwise I just had a black screen after startup.
runs but freezes
complete system freeze after a few minutes
game freezes system after 5-10 minutes
crashes instantly within first minute of gameplay
Will randomly freeze 10 seconds into gameplay
Videos/Movies seem to have texture glitches and don't load, you get a RGB/static screen instead of them. Hold any key to skip them.
Black screen with audio in a background
Game menu, game menu graphics, settings, all seem to work. However, when the game starts it crashes after the initial tutorial messages.
Crashes after about 1 minute of starting a new game. Some textures don't load like character portraits.

I used the Lutris install script that is meant to be used for the game Control but since the install script just installs the Epic Game Store it seems the same configuration works for this game. I only played about 25 or so minutes but I did not notice any glitches to speak of.

Black screen on start, sound in background.
Game starts and background music will play, mouse will switch, but nothing will display. Just a black screen.
