Proton GE-29 is no longer necessary to resolve texture issues and missing character portraits. As of right now, Proton Next (7.0-6) and the default chosen Proton 7.0-5 work perfectly with this game. Thus, user shouldn't need to tinker at all.
In the past, the below were places where issues could occur:
- Texture glitching with character leggings/socks (can check with Asuka's default burst mode outfit)
- Missing character portrait in character selection screen
- Missing character portrait in mission results, page 2
Shadows are quite blocky, but the game nonetheless runs its best as an old PS Vita port. When Next gets pushed to the default 7.0 channel, nothing should change as far as this game is concerned. Should the relevant fixes disappear for Shinovi Versus, Proton GE-47 appears to be the latest GE version that works. Mileage obviously may vary with newer GE versions as both GE and its base from Valve changes.
Steam's bundled Proton7 results with missing character portraits and glitched leg textures with some characters post-transformation (mostly to do with socks or stockings). GE 7-30 and 7-31 have missing character portraits. At time of writing, latest GE version that works without issue is 29.
At some point in time, game also worked without issues in Proton Experimental. As the time of writing, Proton 7.04 have texture issues with some socks/stockings, and Experimental does not show the character portrait on the "results" page after completing or failing a mission.
Almost all stockings textures looks corrupted. They have some green big pixels all over them.
For some characters and outfits not all textures are displayed correctly in-game and during the cutscenes/dialogs. This mostly applies to textures for the stockings (they are replaced by some grayish textures with green fragments) but also some other textures don't load properly.

A short freeze (1 minute) was experienced when Alt-Tabbing back in
The game runs out of the box and natively supports my Xbox One controller
Two small issues, crackling of audio, plus need to run in Big Picture mode for controller support, otherwise no issues!
My PS4 controller did not fully work (sticks works but buttons did not), and would only work after running the game through Big Picture mode
No problems to report it works flawlessly I had to check multiple times to see if the game ran native support on Linux. It runs that good.
I also tried running it with mods installed and it still works flawlessly.
Runs as on windows, great experience

Platinum as a single player game, achievements works, controller works, runs perfect. However crashes right away when you enter a multiplayer game.

Works fine using wined3d, but crashes after any online match.

Out of the Box, Runs like native on Fedora 29 Plasma KDE without any tweaks

Multiplayer mode is slow and crashes upon completing a match. Single player content runs very well. No tweaks used.

Great performance, no workarounds

bad fps because the device is old, it should run fine on newer intel hd or Nvidia/AMD

virtual desktop used - csmt on

No controller tested.
