Works great!
- Install the game from Steam ( add non-steam game );
- use the steam shortcut game target to install the game ( setup.exe );
- change the steam shortcut game target to install directx9 from the original instalation disk;
- the steam shortcut game target to set the Ninja Blade.exe (
$HOME/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/<your compatdata folder>/pfx/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/ND Games/Ninja Blade/NinjaBlade.exe
) - Enjoy and have fun!
no extra tinkering
TDP:10 is great, might be even lower
Text is small to read, so it's better to be played on Steam Deck itself, without external controller
sometimes there are no sound at the beginning of the cutscenes but then it comes back. Game has subtitles to cover the rest
just some rare artifacts during cutscenes
no cloud saving
main problem with this game is video cutscenes not being played properly. If you use specific proton GE version everything will be great
Alt + Tab may not work well.
Cutscenes played fine, but when I tried to skip them, the game froze.
While not needed to enjoy the game and they are very short, some videos won't play. They come up with multicoloured bars.
Change fps from 30 to variable for unlock framerate in game, but resets everytime you start the game. 30fps in menus.
Clicking play shows the game trying to lauch but no windows ever appear. Launching stops and the play button returns.
PROTON_LOG=1 %command%
Works out of the box including cut scene videos
The game works now out of the box, graphics rendered correctly and cut-scene videos work (the converted videos are downloaded together with the shaders on Steam).
Fix game launching in tiny resolution on Steam Deck: Properties... > General > Game Resolution > Set to 1280x800 + Set resolution for internal and external display
Change Controller Layout to Gamepad with Joystick Trackpad
FMVs won't play. Even with Proton GE only video will play but without audio. Reencode wmv files in movie folder to webm then rename them to take place of the orignial files to fix this.
I played out the box the whole game. Only with one graphic issue, fixable. And with a newer lutris wine for the FMV play fine.
I have only one issue. With one of the protagonist enemies, the body look like mesh transparency. I opened issue report in dxvk github. And this is the fix: "You make a file called dxvk.conf next to the games exe and insert d3d9.alphaTestWiggleRoom = True"
When the game lost the focus and back, the frame rate cut down to 20FPS. Maybe happens in windows native.
Only one hang up in the whole play time.
The FMVs only works with the most new lutris wine version.

Works great with Proton Experimental.
Some starter level logos(?) before the video on each level does not render. The actual cut scenes render fine.
With the crashes, it's basically unplayable.
Crashes often. Sometimes they are random, sometimes crashes when skipping cut-scenes. Forces you to restart long missions from scratch.
WMV videos don't play in game, but can be watched outside the game in the "movie" folder and can be skipped in game.
If you could save in-between missions I'd say it's playable, but it doesn't have that and has frequent crashes. This makes it so you could only beat the game with pure luck and persistence since you have to restart very long missions from scratch every time a crash happens, and skipping some cut-scenes crashes the game as well. This may be more of due to it being a shoddy port instead of it being a problem with Linux/Proton but either way it's pretty much unplayable.
Game works but cut scene videos are skipped. Played 30 minutes without any issues. Nintendo Switch Pro controller also worked.
Crashed on start the first time, the second time, after starting a new game, the intro video did not play, and the game crashed shortly after the first mission cutscene. On the third attempt, after reloading the first mission and skipping the initial cutscene, the game crashed after a few minutes of gameplay.
