I was unable to properly fullscreen the game on my system, but yours may be different. Playing un-fullscreened was fine though.
protontricks 357330 dsound
Audio bug appeared recently where multiple audio sounds would play over each other continuously. fixed the issue with protontricks "protontricks 357330 dsound ". But now there is a audio delay.
Ran Perfectly with proton 9.0, did not try multiplayer as no one was playing. No audio problems or other issues.
Needs 32-bit NVIDIA and PulseAudio packages on EndeavourOS.
Played with three friends, two of which were also running Linux/Proton.
yay -S lib32-nvidia-utils lib32-libpulse
- Without these packages the game would instantly crash to desktop. My two friends who use Arch and Manjaro did not need to install these.
- Game supports LAN play, but didn't get a chance to test it.
The usual proton DX fix, as stated by other users. Game runs perfectly other than that audio bug, however after performing the protontricks fix, there is a barely noticeable but definitely there audio delay persistent throughout the whole game. I had to take a video and slow it down to 0.4x to verify that the audio delay was there, but my ears could definitely feel something was off before that. Using launch options "PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=80 %command%" unfortunately did not fix for me.
I had to choose between the 'sounds like youre really there' coolant explosion or a slight delay.
Surprisingly, running through proton seemed to make me immune to a specific bug that caused crashes for windows users. Granted the bug has been taken care of now, but I thought that was very interesting.
Make sure to run that protontricks fix.
Works great on any proton version, but by default there is a audio glitch after shutting down all 4 coolants. You can fix that by installing protontricks 357330 dsound
as per this post https://steamcommunity.com/app/357330/discussions/2/1694969361104660514/
However, you will most likely fail as default proton versions always throw an error on that. I tried fixing it, but no luck. The only thing that worked for me was installing Glorious Eggroll and then running protontricks 357330 dsound
worked just fine, and the audio bug was gone!
I am not sure if anyone will use it, but here is what I have done.
- Install protontricks by following this guide https://simpler-website.pages.dev/html/2021/1/protontricks/
- Install Glourious Eggroll version of Proton https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom#installation
- Use GE as the compativility mode for the game
- Install
protontricks 357330 dsound
- Shred aliens!
Already explained in the protontricks
Funnily enough, when I first pirated the game, and ran it through Lutris everything worked just fine. Thank you dev for helping on the forums!
Alt-enter on first run to switch from windowed. There is a community deck profile that maps this to back, and works flawlessly.
TDP to about 8w
Audio bug when you disable all 4 coolants
As others mention, you need to switch to full screen/native res. The community profile binds alt-enter to the back key for this
MP seems to work perfectly
Reduced TDP to 7 or 8 watts
By default the game launches windowed at 2/3rd native resolution, which makes text hard to read
Ear-destroying overlapping audio bug after disabling the 4 coolant terminals.
To play native res you must hook up a keyboard and hit alt-enter. I did this in Desktop mode but it may also be possible in Gaming mode. This will throw a bunch of errors the first time it's done even on Windows.
A good experience overall, but I am disappointed to find that Proton 7 doesn't fix the audio bug.
Audio is fine until you deactivate all the coolants, then it's earrape until the end of the mission.
Good game if you can ignore the one audio issue
Once coolant is disabled the audio goes to hell, repeating the same tone on repeat at max volume like a memory leak bug
Alt-Tab while full screen causes crash
Works flawlessly except for some audio issues. I didn't test local or online multiplayer.
Constant loud audio artifacts that start after disabling coolant and remain until the end of the mission.
Cannot play in fullscreen.
Going into fullscreen worked, but after a few seconds it'd fail. Leaving fullscreen is possible without restarting the game, and it returns to functioning at this point.
Using Proton 4.11 this game runs just fine, even multiplayer is perfect!
Infrequent crackling upon level finale.
Unable to join multiplayer matches as this believes my steam is out of date (and it is not)
Played multiplayer with friends without issue. The only notable problem I had was I seemingly could not join their games. However, I could not isolate this as a Proton issue. Unless mentioned otherwise, I'm assuming it was unrelated to Proton. Worked around at the time by hosting a game myself.
Runs great. Didn't notice any issues.
Excellent performance
