Not necessary for stock gameplay. Used to install the Unofficial patch, Killer App Mod, the map pack and Error 1 & 2 fan-made campaigns. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=325088441
The game runs fine without tinkering, still, KA mod recommended for widescreen support, bug fixes and more.
Multiplayer server list fix. Add those system-wide to your /etc/hosts

In game music uses Direct Sound, need to use command "protontricks 327440 directmusic" to get working.
Game will run without protontricks but in game music will not work. I recommend protontricks not only for music fix but also so you can install the Tron 2.0 Killer app mod which gives your proper widescreen support and bug fixes.
Used to install the Killer App mod. Not necessary for stock gameplay.
Game sometimes crashes, but I don't know if this problem is specific to the Deck or to Proton. Quick-save frequently.
My tinkering involved creating a custom control profile and installing the Killer App mod.

In-game music doesn't play
Works perfectly
The game has a few minor problems on Linux, but the game itself runs perfectly fine, I played through the whole game on Linux
Using Alt+Tab works, but the game sometimes crashes if you tab back into the game. This happened roughly for every 10th Alt+Tab.
Saving and Loading save games works flawless, but the Game doesn't save the resolution, every time the game starts it defaults to 1024x768 (Not sure if that is the Games or Protons fault).
The only thing that is weird, is that the game has to do the first time installation on every start, but that roughly took 5-10 Seconds on every start, so still okay in my opinion.
The game was running very quickly! Game used to have issues starting up but it now works well!
Running with latest proton has no issues for me
Works fine with the DLL fix and a functioning mouse.
This game has big problems with certain modern mice, making it unplayable. I plugged in a old PS/2 ball mouse on a USB adapter and this worked perfectly for some reason.
Game would sometimes hang during loading a new level or save.
Like mentioned by others, the game needs a 32-bit version of the msvcirt.dll file to start correctly. I copied this from a Windows 7 installation.

the msvcirt.dll found in WINE, or with winetricks, or in Proton 4.2, does not work (it's only 4kB). I had to boot up an old Windows machine, find the file in C:\windows\system32 (this one is 54kB), and ftp it to my linux box. copy it to $HOME/.steam/steamapps/common/Tron\ 2.0/ and the game works beautifully. I tried so many times to install from my physical media over the years.

Just like others, I needed msvcirt.dll to make the game run, then it's almost perfect. I did have problems with mouse, but according to the forum this happens on Windows as well; I solved that by lowering my mouse polling rate way down to 125 Hz, anything higher than that felt unplayable.

Had to install msvcirt.dll, as others have mentioned. Can't get gamepad controller to work. Biggest upset was erratic mouse control that was solved by 1) Running winecfg and enabling Virtual Desktop to match my desktop's resolution. 2) Installing the Killer App Mod and then setting Tron 2.0 to use my desktop's resolution.
There is something wrong with this game's mouse warping that is not solved by playing with Mouse Warp Override.

Just like the post below, all I had to do was copy msvcirt.dll into my game folder. You can download it from lots of places. the 32 bit version worked fine. The game works great on integrated graphics.

You need to download msvcirt.dll v5.0.0.7022 and put it in the game's directory. Then it works flawlessly.

Installs fine, launcher loads fine, game starts, changes resolution, then flashes black and quits. Disabling videos did not help. Creating a 32bit WinePrefix did not help.

Gets stuck on installing .NET Framework, will show a progress and then just disappears without launching game

Will not start.

Doesn't launch.

Installs, but doesn't launch the game.
