Game slows down to a halt before gameplay can start; music still plays.
Tried with Proton 7.0-2, Proton Experimental, and Proton-7.2-GE-2 and with PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 , no improvements.
Empty black window
Tried different versions of Proton (Experimental, 6.x, 5.x). Tried PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 and PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1, no dice.
Error in LocalLow/SunheadGames/Carto/output_log.txt was "WindowsVideoMedia error 0x80004005 while reading Carto_Data/sharedassets0.resource , CreateObjectFromByteStream Call failed. VideoPlayer cannot play clip : Assets/ui/game state/logo/HumbleGames_Logo_Anim.mp4"
with the mf-install trick mentioned here, kernel32.dll crash
used https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install.git and got this error on launch: GRIS [version: Unity 2017.4.10f1 (f2cce2a5991f)] kernel32.dll caused an Unknown exception type (0x20474343) in module kernel32.dll at 0033:7b45318c.
Frequent lock-ups during action and rapid-reflex experiences cancels-out the game's thesis.
Audio was consistent, video/gameplay would lock up, antithetical to what should be an experience about runner's "flow."
exception c0000005
No sound; graphics and input reactions are on-point, played it to completion without interruption.
No sound at all. Even with the libpulse.so.0 trick, and with installing "winetricks dsound" and "winetricks directmusic" and with "sound=alsa"
Stuttering during the first minute of playing.
Crashes during UnityPlayer startup unless I edit game properties, set launch options, "PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%"
Ambient music is missing
Game would not start without the PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
trick in the Steam launch options.
the msvcirt.dll found in WINE, or with winetricks, or in Proton 4.2, does not work (it's only 4kB). I had to boot up an old Windows machine, find the file in C:\windows\system32 (this one is 54kB), and ftp it to my linux box. copy it to $HOME/.steam/steamapps/common/Tron\ 2.0/ and the game works beautifully. I tried so many times to install from my physical media over the years.
without PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 I'd get an unresponsive black screen and I had to restart Steam not just kill the game. With the WINED3D flag game starts, but when I'm outdoors there are missing textures causing dizzying smear effects. As per ProtonDB FAQs, seems I need Vulkan but there are no Vulkan drivers for my video card.
Crashed with "Read from location 00000000 caused an access violation", tried using wine D3D and tried installing 32-bit version of game -- nope.
