-devmode -path jkmcutscenes
I recommend using OpenJKDF2 engine reimplementation https://github.com/shinyquagsire23/OpenJKDF2 (You can build a native linux version but I ended up using the last windows build trough Proton 9 with flawless results). I also recommend this mod: https://www.moddb.com/mods/jedi-knight-mysteries-of-the-sith-remastered. The launch options are for the mod, to make use of new in-engine cutscenes instead of the original video cutscenes.

Newer proton versions make the game freeze which ends up crashing the OS

WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winmm=n,b" RADV_PERFTEST=gpl gamemoderun gamescope -W 1920 -H 1080 -r 144 -o 144 -f %command%
No music even use winmm.
Sometimes graphical glitches when quit menu to game.
Use gamescope to set native resolution, in game set 720p or lower for bigger text.
"WINEDLLOVERRIDES='winmm.dll=n,b' %command%"
Text is bit small to read
Needed to use launch command to enable music
Saves old saves before using the launch commands won't load music.
No Music without using Launch command
WINEDLLOVERRIDES='winmm.dll=n,b' %command%
Subtitles/Pickup Messages text is small. There is a mod called JKGXMOD which might fix this.
STAR WARS: Jedi Knight - Dark Forces II requres the launch command "WINEDLLOVERRIDES='winmm.dll=n,b' %command%" to cause in game music to playback properly. I tried this command in Mysteries of the Sith, but no music was present in the first stage. Music works in the initial cutscene.
Menu vertical mouse is always inverted from in game vertical Mouse and vice versa.
Works as is without tinkering. Can be launched and played with default Proton version as of writing (March 17 2023), however, there is no in game music playback. The Workaround suggested from the Dark Forces II report page didn't work for me.

Some text on the ui is quite small
Took some adjusting to the controls but game works very well on proton
Go to Display settings, enable 3D Acceleration, then change to Deck's native resolution (1280x800)
Steam overlay wouldn't show up initially, but it started working after a few seconds
Works far better than on Linux desktop
Works (enable 3D Acceleration in game settings)
Needs to enable 3D Acceleration in game Settings-Display
No window mode
Played with Proton 6.3-8

Does require some thinkering, but it works relatively well after a few major modifications.
Proton-GE 6.5-GE-3 (Flatpak Runtime) GloriousEggroll
Just like with Dark Forces II, the game is broken by default. You need a restoration mod for it to even start up: https://www.moddb.com/mods/jedi-knight-remastered/news/mysteries-of-the-sith-remastered Run the mod's executable, and manually launch the "inject.exe" executable the mod creates to play the game.
I've tested the game with basic wine and winetricks, as well as ProtonGE with protontricks. You should still be able to use your favorite version of Proton with it. Disable Steam Overlay, and switch to X11 if you're on Wayland, as it won't capture your mouse otherwise.
You can't escape the fullscreen, not even by switching to a tty. Good luck if your game freezes, and doesn't quit.
Does not work with Proton Experimental. Does not work with Proton 6.5-GE-2 5.13 and 6.3 where not tested.
crashes uphon clicking anything on menu

Game doesn't work well and very unsatisfing experience
When the game is loading it sometimes crashes during loading
Sometimes menu is laggy

Works well, but mouse has vertical inversion.
inverted vertical mouse
Works under Proton 4.11-13, not work under Proton 5.x

Borked Menus, Unable to progress past Menus
Starts up fine and videos play. Keyboard doesn't work in menus, making it impossible to create a profile and progress to the game.

Runs perfectly actually, even better than the original Jedi Knight (no menu issues). Just finished it. I turned 3D acceleration on in-game.

Game just works out of the box now, no tweaking required. Select "hardware acceleration" in in-game display settings - after that more available resolutions will show up. It has a bit weird control scheme by default, but that's normal for such old game.

Game works out of the box on Proton with WineD3D but you have to enable in the game 3D acceleration, otherwise it is extremely slow. I copied manually dgVoodoo2, run protontricks GAMEID winecfg, set ddraw to native and then the game worked on Vulkan with DXVK.

Game starts but menu doesnt render correctly; you can hear sound effects by moving your mouse over buttons and clicking them but the screen doesn't refresh making it impossible to progress.
Can't alt+tab, alt+f4 or switch desktop but by using escape and enter you can exit the game.

Game seems to start ok but you UI doesn't work. Can't type or click anything. Can't alt+tab or alt+F4 or switch desktop

Game runs in the corner of my screen but cannot even click on menus properly.

Game starts in a small area of the screen in the topleft corner. Keyboard input doesn't work which means you can't progress. Can't minimize or tab out either so you need to ALT+F4 out

To fix the problems with the menu: run the command WINEPREFIX=~/steam/steamapps/compatdata/32390/pfx/ winecfg, go to the Graphics section, enable Emulate a vrtual desktop and set the resolution to the real resolution of your normal screen (e.g. 1920 x 1080). If you have Problems with the mouse, disable Enable Free look in the ingame Setup at Controls in the Options section.

same as original game - apply virtual desktop of 640x480, set your screen resolution in game config, everything should work in window.

Video scenes and menus are only in a small size in the left top corner. You have to use the menus "blind", but it is possible.

Same as other testers - menu is in window top left of screen while mouse area covers almost entire screen, meaning you have to click as if the window were full screen for the commands to react. This is fiddly but can be overcome with patience. Game itself renders in fullscreen and works as well as Windows.

In-game it's ok; but like it's been said already, the menu only appear in corner of the screen while mouse input is as if the menu were fullscreen.

Issues with fullscreen for the menu but works with 4k in game. Played through first mission without issues noticed.

Single player works identically to Windows. Multiplayer does not work: the DirectPlay protocol list is garbled, and none of the options work for either hosting or connecting to games.

In-game performance is smooth and no issues, however menus only appear in corner of the screen while mouse input is stretched across the entire screen
