Follow this guide to make the game work
Game works perfectly through proton, theres even a native build that the developer will try to merge into steam. My problems are listed bellow
Some stuff (like the loading animation) is broken and the game looks a bit different in some areas (Like the lobby being a bit more yellow) but thats very minor.
Do NOT use "exclusive fullscreen", for me it just crashes the game on alt-tab back, but there is a "Fullscreen-windowed" option aswell.
It does use a proprietary anti-cheat. It's not known to mess with linux or reject it so it's probably fine.
Works wonders, both kn controls and graphics
Highly modified for my ease
Locked to 60fps, Set graphics to low, FSR 2.0 UQ with AA quality to high
Chat and some UI stuff (both can be tweaked but UI scale stops at 120%)
FSR 2 implementation is hit or miss
FSR 2 at UQ or even lower qualities looks better than native because of the AA and looks native otherwise but the implementation is not perfect, some screens, effects, shaders are not working with fsr and look lower res (including some text on signs). The GPU mostly rests at around 2w with some spikes at 3+, CPU rests at 2w most of the time but starts turboing for completely arbitrary reasons and can peak at 6 or 8w (Haven't limited it yet). Frame time is stable and the game just works great 👍

Make sure you install This if joining a game says "Anti cheat not initialized"
Make sure your Proton version is set to "Expiremental", Head over to "Proton expiremental" on your steam library, click properties, go to the "Betas" tab and select "Bleeding edge" Beta. If my guide doesn't work, head over to the original.
Works OOTB, even the control scheme
changed right trackpad "as mouse" to "mouse region" since it suites me more
it doesn't like ntfs and exfat drives
Works perfectly fine on experimental, but you cannot get past the first time setup screen inside of game mode
Launcher doesn't have controller support. EULA borks on gamescope
You cannot get past the set up screen in game mode
Switch to experimental, also switch the controller layout JUST FOR THR NEXT STEP (use any mouse&kb layout). Go into desktop mode, launch the game as usual, use the mouse emulation to proceed through the launcher. This is where "the black screen" happens to 90% of users but it's because gamescope doesn't render this extra pop up right, now click reject all (or accept all cookies who cares) and then the green agree button. After this you can go back into game mode and use any controller profile and the game works flawlessly
Linux depot is 0B, you have to switch on proton first. And it still doesn't work.
When you first download the game the download is listed as 0 bytes and trying to launch it will just say missing executable cause it's not there. So you turn on proton and it downloads the windows version which DOES exist but doesn't launch.
Works perfectly
Windows saved games did not transfer over
Default options set display to 720p at 60hz. I don't know if that's how the game behaves both on windows and on linux or just linux.
Works well. No issues.
Local coop works perfectly fine. Tried with steam link, tried with a custom layout on deck. Both worked fine
So glad the proton team finally fixed this game. Now I can go rage with friends on the go!
-forced3d
Had the right trackpad click bound to left mouse button, and R4 set to "enter" to skip the cutscene and enter my name at startup
In gamemode the launcher will always be shoved into a quarter portion of the top right part of the screen, just annoying but no technical issues.
The Powerslide logo animation (plays shortly after the Ratbag intro), is not yet included in the pre-compiled shaders and uses licensed video formats. This means it currently is shown as some colorbars (on valve's proton)
You will need a basic mouse and left click in your control scheme to play this game (launcher). Use the launch options "-forced3d" to have the game use the Direct3D driver. This makes the game run and look better (compared to software), and more stable (compared to glide). Set the resolution manually in settings to "1280x800x32" note that 32bpp is to the LEFT of the 16bpp options. In the input settings you can bind accelerate/decelerate to the triggers (have enter bound in steam input to another button). If you want Local Multiplayer between computers, you need to use wine/protontricks to install "DirectPlay" and Portforward as this guide says.
Works perfectly fine out of the box
Just set the graphics to low
Other than the game's online being shit. It's not affected by it running on linux
Works just as fine on desktop as it does on deck
Deserves platinum. Runs perfectly out of the box on non-ntfs drives.
Launching this game from an NTFS drive might have some issues
Works fine.
EOS installer was kinda annoying, and I got stuck at the "steam loading" screen. Had to restart the game, and then it worked.
Mostly good, some glaring issues though
No voice chat on linux. None
Everything looks a bit blurry, might be due to the fact you can't change resolution for whatever reason? That's pretty bad.
Mouse pointer in menus and actual mouse position was way off, usually a couple centimeters bellow
EQU8
Spung bob
A few glitches with the DoF and other very minor artifacts.
Fun on deck
Fullscreen 1280x800 was an inconsistent 50-60fps sometimes as low as 40 at bigger areas, and it was kind of noticeable, I lowered the resolution to the next lowest 16:10 option available and now it was a solid 60 with dips to 50 at larger areas. You can also customize it more with an edit to a conf file which I did not do.
Game dont work
Yeah so basically I went from q1 to q2 and um it's still not here? So yeah this is definitely a borked game, they need to fix this... If valve sends me a dev kit for free I'll test it and update my review, pinky promise :)
Works almost perfectly
The tutorial videos wont load
Works like a charm
Just made it feel "right" to me, also used mouse region instead of "as mouse"
Game uses a lot of CPU for no reason, set a lot of graphics to low, and limited frames to 30 (somehow that helped the cpu situation)
Works perfectly OOtB. Small issues if youre the host for extended periods of time
After a long playtime as a host of a lobby, sometimes (usually happened after I was on the steam workshop in the overlay) the game starts to stutter a LOT until you close it.
I was the host for multiple hours once and then suddenly everyone disconnected and anytime they rejoined it gave them an "error".
