Mostly works fine
Upon first boot you may need mouse/touch to confirm if you want to go full screen. Other than that, there's a very minor issue with arrow characters missing in at least a couple instances : One is during the tutorial, the second one is during the skill setup menu. It's easy to figure out things despite this though, the skill menu you'll just have to memorize (X is neutral, then the following 3 options are : Up, Left/Right and Down). I thought this was a Proton issue but a quick search for gameplay videos tells me it's more of a thing with the english translation. Just for good measure I did try different versions of Proton (including GE) as well as setting japanese locale, but it made no difference.
Tried this game again after a long time, still beyond borked.
Also tried it on Windows and it doesn't even run on Windows and gives bunch of errors.
DirectX Error : StretchRect is Invalid call
is one of them. I guess this game is a lost cause.
Works out of the box for English players with GloriousEggroll, small fixes required for Japanese text.
LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 /PATH/TO/PORTABLELOCALE/run.sh %command%
Deck Experience
ONLY USE LAUNCH OPTIONS IF YOU NEED TO PLAY WITH JAPANESE TEXT
Game runs fine if Language is set to English. Changing Language to Japanese causes no text to be shown. Proton does this game well by default.
But I wanted to play in Japanese so I did multiple things:
- Ran "protontricks 214590 fakejapanese fakejapanese_vlgothic" thinking it was a font issue but didn't seem to work, but I used the same proton prefix so it might be part of the solution so I am writing it here.
- Used this Github tutorial here which fixed my problem and allowed the showing of Japanese text.
Steam Deck Settings:
Set MSAA to 4x (You can go higher if you want but I think it is a pointless endeavour), able to run at 60fps locked with 6W TDP for around 4hrs of battery life.
I'm keep getting the same error on all Proton versions. The game does not start.
Error says: DirectX Error : StretchRect is Invalid call
The last environment will crash the game after around ~1 minute, meaning the game can't be finished.
Runs just fine, but no text outside of UI. Might be a font problem of sorts.
Only issue is missing button prompt icons in tutorial, very minor issues, otherwise runs great.
Game ran fine. Did not crash on change of focus, and Xbox 360 controller worked out of the box (note the game uses B for accept and A for back, but that is not an error). Still missing the sprites for the button prompts in the tutorial, but is otherwise completely playable.
button sprites for tutorial stages missing; no problem with window focus
Game runs well. Doesn't seem to detect Xinput pads correctly, but they're easy enough to map in the options menu.
Crash when window loses focus; one sign appears as a box in texts; otherwise stable
Only noticiable fault is the lack of button sprites for tutorial stages (like "Press A button" becomes "Press [ ] button")
