https://github.com/nuggslet/MGSM2Fix required for fullscreen
Played with MGSM2Fix which allowed fullscreen. Tinkered a lot with .ini files for the first few hours before settling on playing with default resolution scaling due to weird graphical glitches that occured (not an issue with game itself just expermental "fixes" with the mod) Game played great.

Download and follow the instructions for installing MGM2fix found here: https://github.com/nuggslet/MGSM2Fix
Plays beautifully after that. I would not recommend enabling increased internal resolution with this mod, as it breaks many graphical and audio elements. Enabling widescreen via the .ini file of the mod looks great and works fine.
This was my first time experiencing MGS1 and I had an absolute blast, enough to do a FOX run, all of the VR Missions, and Platinum the game.

Was able to beat this exclusively on Steam Deck. No issues experienced that needed fixing.
Changed around A and B Button functionality
While playing another game I increased my FPS. When I came back to this, I experienced stuttering until I reduced my FPS to 30fps.

Used MGSM2Fix.
It's a fun game, and it works really good.

Enabled back grip buttons as a Hold Action Layer to allow me to aim with RS and shoot with RT instead of aiming with RB and shooting with X
TDP 7W FPS 60

besides fullscreen not working it's a smooth experience
Finished the full game without any issues (besides the game not being able to run in full screen, which all the other games from the collection do fine), but that's actually not such a big problem, as the playstation graphics wouldn't really look too good if scaled up even more (the window was 1080p, my actual display resolution is 1440p).

Fullscreen dosent work without mods. Install MGSM2Fix and edit ini file. Change borderless to true

Works good enough if you don't mind not playing in fullscreen.
When I pressed Alt+Enter, it would not go into fullscreen.

Plays fine without any messing around. However, it's not a very good port of the original PS1 game. A better experience would be to play this via emulation through emudeck or something similar
Game crashes upon launching. Tried Proton GE and Experimental

Game works windowed without issues
I was unable to activate fullscreen. It's possible to force it with gamescope, but since gamescope is bugged I had force reboot my PC after using it if I wanted to launch the game again.
Absolutely no issues on my end other than the fullscreen not working, played through the game with a dualsense.
Note that after saving, you need to open up the emulator's menu (L1+R1, or E+M on keyboard) for the save to register (you will see the exclamation mark top right), after that you can Alt+F4 if you want, or quit normally. If you don't open up that menu after saving and you Alt+F4, the saves will not sync with the emulator and will be lost on next reboot.

Very rare audio crackling near the end of the game, but not too much of a big deal.
Saves were deleted on a crash.

TDP Limit: 5W, GPU Limit: 600MHz
Windowed only (no problem in gaming mode)
You need to exit the game to main menu using the new menu (L1+R1, otherwise save data will be lost
This collection deserve better

After Switching to Full screen need to reboot game or the game repeatedly minimises and maximizes
Game Runs like it would on your PSOne with no Emulator Tweaks that Includes the Switching of the confirm and cancel buttons the OG game had. Get the GOG Version if you want a PC version of Metal Gear Solid 1 over this.

game is in 4.3 like the og tv days so it's smaller overall
no proton needed

Tried changing the 'confirm' and 'back' buttons in the menu but for whatever reason, it did not work, the button prompts at the bottom did not change, very annoying and confusing.
Some text in game is slightly blurry and a little small but in the codex and the menus, it is fine.
Blurry
Would take 10-20 seconds to switch between fullscreen and windowed.
I hear that there may be save game issues, so please, beware.

Game works great, just don't change from Windowed to Fullscreen (Don't need to on Steam Deck Game Mode anyway)
Changing from Windowed to Fullscreen causes the game to repeatedly minimise and maximise until you force close it and relaunch it

Bear in mind its native resolution which is poor. but already knowimg that playing this was great
remapped select buttob

3W TDP, 200 GPU
Fullscreen crashes the game, but windowed works completely fine.
B is confirm and A is back.

Exit with L1 + R1 to save and close the game, otherwise it won't save.

Runs fine.
poor mouse and keyboard support (reasonable), no option to remap controller menu accept/return buttons to the western standard leading to slight annoyances

There are some hickups where is possible to see some frame drops, looks like is related to memory stream.
While in the current status it is low resolution, being 240p in a 1080p window, it is fully playable

I would suggest to switch to 8.21 GE to have the Steam Overlay work without issues, but saving is not working whatsoever.
Tried to use various Proton & Proton GE Versions
If you try to switch out of windowed mode, games hungs up on me.
If you save your progress and restart the game, save file is gone

Its in a very weird and rough state right now, and is less playable than it was on the PSP.
mangohud %command%
Game gets confused about window vs fullscreen state quite easily
Heavy audio issues and slowdown
Heavy slowdown is present, which is odd for what is a PS1 emulator on a system more than capable of running it. It felt as though the game was running at half speed.
