Same as spiderbob's. Since I had no profiles initially (or maybe I just missed it?) I had to scroll down in Game.perfs to options_overrides > primary_adapter > default and change the line to "default = '2560,1440,60'" (change the first two numbers to your resolution and third to refresh rate of your monitor) and launch the game.
When you create a profile you can close the game, go back to the Game.perfs and near the top go to profile > profiles > options > primary_adapter and make the same change.

I was able to sign in and paste in my CD key without issue. I was also able to start an online match (bots only) and exit so that I could unlock the DLC characters. Played a round in single-player with no issues.
Very annoying DRM, but ok everyone knows this. However, game key not retrievable because 'wine' crashes the key retrieval process.....
Tried all kinds of tinkering, too many to count, none of them work.
Game does not work due to : not being able to activate with key. (wine crashes)

4 years ago this game worked fine. Tried several Proton version to no avail.
Get past install and loadup, plays intro and menu audio but no graphics, just black screen. Yet to try config changes, tips/tricks.
The game requieres an account refistration, this fan be done on the deck using touch/trackpads and the virtual keyboard. But sadly, crashes right after.
Also tried with Proton-GE 7.16 and editing the configuration file, nothing changed.
Need to manually set Proton version and screen resolution in config file, but otherwise works fine.
Forced Proton version to 4.11-13 which fixed startup crash.
Screen is black for all but the upper-left corner. As per SpiderBob's post, you have to find Game.prefs, open it with a text editor and change primary_adapter value to match your desktop resolution. Works perfectly after that.
When I first ran it the screen was peculiar. it was only showing the top left 3/5ths of the screen. After finding the Game.pref (for me at: /home//.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/202710/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Gas Powered Games/Demigod) and opening with a text editor. I changed primary_adapter line to primary_adapter = '1920,1080,60' which is the native resolution for my monitors and everything worked fine after that.
Finally works like a charm!
Unknown(2+ hours with Proton)Was able to create an account and register my key. Game crashed right after launching. Was able to copy and paste my Game.prefs file from my Windows install into my "/steamapps/compatdata/202710/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Gas Powered Games/Demigod" which allowed the game to launch. I was also able to copy over my CVPMultiplayerEngine_#######.csv file, which auto-unlocked the free DLC characters. Also tested hosting my own lobby and was able to create one and use this to unlock the DLC characters as well (I've created symlinks to my libgnutls files to fix network issues with proton and UPlay, so I'm not sure if that step is necessary). Out of the 3 games I've played, I did get one crash, however I have also had crashing issues with this game on my Windows 10 install, so it may not be wine-related. Disable Esync, Disable D3d11, and Use WineD3d11 is required for matches to fully load. Other than that, I was able to run the game at max settings with no stutter or anything.
