Runs perfectly, or as perfectly as it can given my specs.
Sometimes, the game freezes and requires a restart.
I use Monado with Envision and an HTC Vive with Index controllers. No issues. Mods install perfectly, have yet to try MelonLoader.

ALVR with Quest 3

Crashing game and entire steam client on launch due to an issue with RAM. My distro didn't ship with a swap file. I upgraded to 32gb of ram recently and tried the game again and suddenly it works as well as it did on linux mint. Ensure you have a swap file or 32gb of ram.
It seems like this game will max out ram usage on launch using a rig with 16gb. Bizzare issue. If you want to play this game, make sure you have either suitable ram or a swap file.

In last report I had problems with running the game. It still doesn't work with WiVRn but works perfectly with ALVR. It was problem with my system - SWAP partition was broken so game crashed everytime when exceeding my RAM size.

had an issue where it said it couldnt load the openxr runtime so i just set steam as the runtime and restarted steamvr and the game, worked like a charm. i havent tried using the built in modding feature yet so i dont know if it will work

After recent update bonelab stopped working
__GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __VK_LAYER_NV_optimus=NVIDIA_only VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json %command%
It worked flawlessly last month, I was using ALVR. After update it crashes after few seconds and crashes the whole steam client. Tried using ALVR and WiVRn - on ALVR crashes almost immediately, on WiVRn starts loading and crashes then with error XRT_ERROR_NOT_IMPLEMENTED.
Waiting for fix.

When my Valve Index Controllers vibration activated they also beeped for some reason. I tested another VR game on my system (Half Life Alyx) and there was no beeping there.
Make sure to enable Proton Experimental. I don't know what finally fixed this, Valve? Nvidia driver update? Wayland? Only weirdness I experience now is that my index controllers beep when the vibration turns on in this game.
So I use alvr and the game opens but I cant play because it doent use my controlers so I cant do any thing

I didn't try anything else than Proton Experimental. Worked OOTB with no issues

when i tried to play this with steamvr it would crash my wm on the 2nd or 3rd loading screen

PRESSURE_VESSEL_FILESYSTEMS_RW=$XDG_RUNTIME_DIR/wivrn_comp_ipc %command%
I use WiVRn/OpenComposite, bypassing SteamVR entirely.

WINEDLLOVERRIDES="version=n,b" gamemoderun %command%
The launch options are only required for anyone using melonloader, as the version.dll file needs to be loaded, other than that, using my Quest and ALVR, i was able to play this game perfectly!

Game runs well enough to play, mod support probably works, however I have not tested it.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr %command%
Quite significant stuttering, however that may be an issue with ALVR and not with BONELAB itself
Game finally boots past the opening menus and into VR, and I was able to make it to the Hub completely fine, albeit there was some stuttering when I looked around, but that may be an issue with my ALVR settings. I'm using the Patch 3 branch currently, but hoping that gets implemented into the main version soon. Glad to have another game I can check off the "requires Windows" list.

Works perfectly using proton experimental. No tinkering. Using ALVR and Quest 2.

Works out of the box on SteamVR 2.1.5
No issues spotted. Performs well and plays well as long as legacy reprojection mode is enabled (which goes without saying on SteamVR >1.14, which is required since the game fails to init OpenXR on 1.14). Tested on Valve Index.
"Out of the box" doesn't imply the SteamVR side however, which is an issue for every game. Use this guide to iron out the common issues:

With Monado I was able to view the initial loading screen with no issues
XR_RUNTIME_JSON=/run/host/usr/share/openxr/1/openxr_monado.json PRESSURE_VESSEL_FILESYSTEMS_RW=$XDG_RUNTIME_DIR/monado_comp_ipc %command%
Almost got to experience the main menu.
I followed this guide to the letter: https://monado.freedesktop.org/valve-index-setup.html (there are other guides for other head sets too, might be worth checking if your setup has more luck with this) With Monado I was able to launch this game and view the VR loading screen with a decent framerate and accurate tracking. Sometimes I could even get one second of main menu screen before the game completely freezes and becomes unresponsive.
I tested this out with different proton versions. Both steams official Proton 8 and the GE8 versions got me furthest while version 7 freezes immediately and Experimental doesn't even start the game window while printing a message in terminal about OpenComposite shutting down.
I also tested this setup on another Unity OpenXR game and had same experience, loading and splash screens worked but immediately in main menu the game freezes.

Game would indefinitely load until sig-term'd
Was unable to get to the main menu on this one.
Attempted protons: Experimental, 8.0-3, 7.0-6, GE-proton7-55, and GE-proton8-13.
Gave it about 5 minutes to load on some attempts, sadly no luck!

Game loads with some tinkering, but crashes prior to main menu.
Had to switch to Proton GE and switch the OpenXR renderer to SteamVR in the SteamVR settings, but when loading the menu the game crashes and gives steamVR error code 203.
Works just fine, haven' t noticed any issues.

I didn't get melonloader working but normal mods work as expected
Game could only be played up to chapter 4. Trying to load chapter 5 caused the game to crash in the middle of loading.
There is no difference in experience between custom Proton versions.
So back with the promised update. Apparently, it wasn't my usage of older drivers. The thing that fixed the issue was ALXR.
probably not because of bonelab but because of ALXR, but idk really
~10% lower fps than in windows
I couldn't get Monado to work (probably because I have a quest 1) but ALXR does the job for me. Monado is also an openxr runtime, so I guess one can try that.
Active Loader Open XR Loader crash. and crashing once trying to load a map after fixing said issue.
Not playable, only loads into main menu if you have an endgame save, if not you cant even load into the game.
some mods have invisible avatars, though that might be a mod issue
Fullscreen crashes the PC
FPS notably lower than Windows 11, but it is still over 90fps and since I use a quest 1, I am ok
Dear Nvidia users, I think I found a fix. The reason Bonelab works and Boneworks doesn't, is because bonelab uses openxr, not openvr. Most unity games have this issue. To fix this, downgrade your drivers. 470 works for me, so I resort to switching every time before launching it. I heard monado also works. I will give it a go and give an update.

the very first pistol in the orange locker wont let you pick it up, the rest will though
only low will run and I have an rx 6650xt which is comparable to a rtx 2080
crashes on startup when using any version of proton (on nvidia) also crashes SteamVR
if you plan on buying it and you have a Linux system with a Nvidia card, you'll be out of luck as the game will crash on startup at "Active Loader Open XR Loader" using any version of proton, this also crashes SteamVR (Headset: Meta Quest 2 via ALVR nightly)
doesnt work on nvidia gpus, works fine on AMD
error on load
OpenXR loader failed. Changing to Steam Beta + set as default doesnt help
The game loads up to the screen saying using OpenXR then freezes your entire computer.
No workie just yet :( This is after you set steamvr to the default openxr renderer. You have to restart via the power button to fix it.
Crashes The Entire Computer
Attempted to open this game via my Valve Index headset only to have the headset shut off as the loading screen popped up. I went over to my computer and while the cursor could move around the loading screen, nothing else could be done. No run prompt, alt tab, terminal, etc. I had to hard power off because pressing the power button to sleep didn't even work. Upon rebooting I tried it again, but this time launched it from Steam without VR, and the same exact thing happened. My entire system crashed on the splash screen that says inivializing VR something something. I'll be returning this game immediately.
Do NOT run this, it crashes your entire computer.

After switching to an AMD card, everything works completely fine. Thanks NVIDIA, very cool.
Not even able to get past the loading screen the g114 void when I was playing on Windows.
I've tried the Linux specific version of SteamVR, didn't let me launch games. The beta version does, though, but textures completely shit the bed when in SteamVR loading screens (semi unrelated, this is the case for BONEWORKS, too).
I've tried Proton versions 7.04, Forced Experimental, and Glorious Eggroll 7.20 iirc. The former didn't work, and the latter two did, but I couldn't get past the G114 Void loading screen, as mentioned before. alx pls fix
Same OpenXR Loader + -203 error everyone else with an Nvidia card gets
Cant get past OpenXR with Nvidia driver
Once the game gets to "Active OpenXR runtime" X11 freezes for a few seconds and steamvr crashes. Appears to be a Nvidia only issue based on all the working reports being AMD.

Active XT Loader Open XR Loader screen on startup
Doesn't work yet, I REALLY hope that it'll work in the future.
Crashes and freezes the system at start.
First I got past the "Failed to initialize OpenXR" message by setting SteamVR as the OpenXR driver. Go to SteamVR Settings -> Developer Settings to do this. But even after setting SteamVR as OpenXR driver, the game crashes and then freezes my system, forcing hard reboot. I can prevent it from freezing my system by running steam through konsole (kde terminal) instead of launching it from my desktop environment. Doing this the game just crashes without freezing my system and then launches a small window which I assume to be an automated crash reporting tool from the game devs. I also tried switching to SteamVR Linux beta client but that didn't work.
