while loading a replay fps stutters and drops to 20 but during gameplay is locked 60 fps
can't use multiple controllers on steam recommended proton. Proton 9.0 solved this and has none fps stutter during gameplay
plays otb perfectly for me. the default graphics are stunning. online services have been disabled by konami and no longer supported.
Best football game after the Efootball fiasco.
The game now works with the default version of Proton. Online was the only thing that wasn't working, but since central servers went offline for good, this means the entire game is working flawlessly on Proton. There's no easy way to run the settings utility after the first time you run the game, make sure everything is ok by then. It's recommended to set vsync on to limit your framerate, in order to prevent a wasteful use of resources (the ideal solution would be to limit the fps, but there's no way to do it either ingame or systemwide, this is actually a Linux limitation).
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60
if you want to play without vsync you need to use "DXVK_FRAME_RATE=(your framerate)" for example: "DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60"
The game itself runs perfectly. Really no Problems.
I can't find real oponents in MyClub-Matchmaking. But I can't say if that's because of Linux Gaming, because the Matchmaking where terrible before and the game won't be updatet any more.
Game freezes most of the time when playing a match, after which force close is necessary
Runs perfectly with Proton 6.3, but make sure to connect a controller before the first run
On my first run, my DS4 controller would not register any input because I plugged it AFTER I started the game. Deleting the compatdata folder and starting over again with the controller connected fixed that issue.
Unable to connect to Game Server... No online games at all.
Proton-6.21-GE-2
KONAMI NEED TO FIX Anti-ANTI CHEAT SO ONLINE PLAY WORKS FOR LINUX. KONAMI: HURRY UP!
No se puede jugar online. ¿Alguien sabría una solución?
¿Alguna solución para poder jugar online?
In the main menu, if you scroll down beyond the standard menu options the game slows down to a crawl
Worked on Proton 6.3-7 but now broken on 6.3-8
You can access the settings to configure display and controllers etc. But once the game starts, you get a black screen and then it crashes.
Not sure, but online multiplayer is known to be broken.
The game doesn't work with newest Proton versions available (Experimental and 6.3-8 at the moment of the test). Had to select 5.13-6 in order to be able to run.
some performance issues like FPS drop here and there had to generate settings file to set controls and full screen using wine
The graphical settings are not in the same exe as the game all settings have to be done in using separate exe
slight fps drop
In order to set the game on fullscreen I had to install Wine, open Settings.exe via Wine, set full screen and copy the Settings.dat file from the Documents/KONAMI... directory in thevirtual C: created by Wine into the PES 2021 installation directory in the SteamLibrary directory.
I experienced some framerate drops.
I tried playing an online MyClub match but after the start of a match it suddenly ended because of an "unexpected problem".
Works out of the box with Proton 6.3.7
The game crashes when trying to scroll down the list of notifications on the home screen.
Offline:
Offline play works as expected out of the box.
Online:
So far, I've played 5 online matches (without tinkering with anything).
- All 5 matches were in a friendly lobby with a close friend (who also runs the same distro as me).
- The first match failed to start once it had reached the stadium overview screen, if that's the right term. It stated that the opponent's network connection had severely deteriorated.
- The remaining 4 matches worked perfectly from start to finish.
Well, maybe. Unlike FIFA this game is more mod friendly, but.......
Windowed mode cannot be resized it seems, still was fine to play.
Most mods are all .exe's. And playing the game without mods is kinda meh. Fake leagues/clubs etc and missing Bundesliga. It does seem to otherwise run fine, but mods are a big thing IMO with the game.
When we accessing notification, under the main menu, it will suddenly force closed, idk why.
the game runs pretty good, but only offline
game refuses to run with gamemod, but its not a problem cause run very smooth, you can enter a online loby but when you start a match game quit, don't forget to play in fullscreen and turn vsync off you need to run setings.exe inside game folder with your local wine.
Can’t download LiveUpdate
- Add this command in the LAUNCH OPTIONS
PROTON_USE_SECCOMP = 1% command%
- And run this command in the terminal for making the game ready to be play
protontricks 1259970 dotnet462 corefonts vcrun2019
Offline playing is good though.
Can't download LiveUpdate
Game runs absolutely fine with disabled fsync and esync. Any connection to the server is voided so no online modes.
Game always crashes in pre-match menu (friendlies, Master League)
Tried all instructions I could find, but game always crashes. Game starts with Proton 5.0-10 and command PROTON_USE_SECCOMP=1 %command% in launch options. Editing section works without a problem, team selection in local match worked, and Master League (transfers etc) until match day / pre-match menu. Can't connect to Konami servers, so no online play and live updates
Sure, you can play... As long as you like the default keybinds, settings etc
The settings program is utterly unable to be run natively in Linux. For some idiotic reason you can't access it through the launcher (where the hell is that thing?), and when going straight to the file itself it's perplexing to find out that even forcing an WINE upon it... just doesn't work. Like what the hell?
Buggy textures, fixed by updating to mesa-git
Fullscreen needs this workaround to work
Si juegas a los modos offline, esta bastante bien.
Cambiando la resolucion de pantalla he podido, ponerlo en pantalla completa pulsando f11 en el juego.
Suele crashear en los primeros inicios, al quinto o sexto empieza a ir bien.

Can't adjust size when window mode, can't switch to other app when fullscreen
drop fps sometimes
No in game update because the internet not work in game. when you switch to online mode the game will crash. i think because the anti-cheat
i tried installing mod from PES Universe and it does work i can share my settings.dat if you want fullscreen mode, just add & PM me on steam
protontricks 1259970 dotnet462 allfonts vcrun2019
Unable to load data & do online gaming (MyClub etc) as each time game is trying to download updated data, it fails
Custom launch command: PROTON_USE_SECCOMP=1 %command%
Proton-5.9-GE-8-ST GloriousEggroll
It starts multiplayer, but right after start of a match maybe because of anti-cheat, or it's proton issue, match ends with message like due to inexplicable reasons game was finished.
Proton-5.9-GE-7-ST works great !! with this launch option "PROTON_USE_SECCOMP=1 %command% "
Proton-5.9-GE-7-ST GloriousEggroll
Couldn't get it start with "-full" command. I hope to get it working with full screen soon.. Still noop with linux and all these things even though I have been using linux 8 years now.
mouse dissapear
eu tive que baixar o proton pesolisado pois ele não abria
ele salva em nuvem
da umas travedinhas mais rapida
Proton-5.9-GE-8-ST GloriousEggroll
protontricks 1259970 dotnet462 allfonts vcrun2019
Got it working by run it once, restart the machine and do the protontrick
Missing fonts
I had to fiddle with proton a lot. Got the GE-build that was suggested by other users. The dotnet installation failed when I tried from the command line. I let steam handle it by just launching from the library. Then I got a never ending protonfixes dialog. I killed that, launched again. That got me into the settings menu. Then killed it again, launched again and was able to play!
Final touch was to use protontricks to install allfonts. That took care of missing fonts in the menu.
Haven't tested online, but if you're a master league / become a legend player it appears to work without issues.

If you get a protonfixes screen upon launch just wait it out and it should launch. Thanks to kamugekomen (https://www.protondb.com/app/1259970#TBzgUqhp_G) for providing this solution.
Game works great if you install it with Proton-5.9-GE-7-ST and with protontricks 1259970 dotnet462 allfonts vcrun2019

If you scroll down to the messages in the main menu, the game crashes. Other than that the experience is very smooth.
Got the game to install but it launches with a black screen
[Protontricks conf]: protontricks 1259970 dotnet462 allfonts vcrun2019
[Steam launch options]: PROTON_USE_SECCOMP=1 %command%
[Proton version]: Proton 5.0-9
https://www.protondb.com/app/1259970#lEYuIgcBpj Txema posted a report in which he used Protontricks to supposedly launch the game. In his protontricks setup that he shared however, he used PES 2020's ID, not PES 2021's, so he might've just mistakenly posted the report to the wrong game. With that being said, I tried the configuration with the only difference being changing the game ID. The game successfully goes through the install, and initial install process, brings up the settings menu upon first run, albeit a clunky version of it, and later launches but with a black screen that upon closing refuses to respond.
