Apparently it's an Unreal Engine 4 game, so using an Intel UHD GPU as another report did, probably won't cut it. But on my middling PC, it's perfect.
It felt a bit laggy in combat but, frankly it's been so long since I've played BDO, that may just be a thing. I see other reports of lag in big battles, so proceed with caution, but it's perfectly playable for messing around. It even minimizes to tray just fine.
A couple years ago it would try to use some other Ubisoft connection method, it wouldn't see a connection to the Internet and you couldn't get into the game. With Proton GE-Proton8-22 it runs fine, no tinkering other than using GE. (I have a feeling it would work with some earlier versions of GE or even Proton at this point, just letting you know what I'm using and that it works fine.)
Don't even get the menu to choose DX11
Not sure what I'm doing wrong here... I see other people at least getting SOME results. Maybe Ubuntu 21.10 is a bad idea for Steam... anyone have any ideas?
Using GE-Proton8-16 it just works. Frame rate is lower than Windows, especially in crowded cities, but pretty good

Works fine for me! People in high end raids or something may have problems, but it seems to run fine. I don't even use gamemode or tweak, just Proton GE
Launcher runs, screen goes black... then an error and closes
I'm sure it is the anti-cheat that PSO2 uses... does not work.
Funnily enough, on first run with Proton GE 8-30, online would not work. I switched to Proton Hotfix, and I was online fine. I don't know if this was a glitch or not, as I haven't re-run it with GloriousEggroll to check. It runs just as well under Proton Hotfix, so choose that if problems with network.
Runs with Proton-6.1-GE-1 GloriousEggroll. Only started game and walked around a bit, but it works fine.
