As others have reported, it did not work out of the box (crashing at the opening cutscene), but after protontricks 1113000 wmp9 quartz devenum
and installing LAVFilters (https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases) via protontricks --gui
, the cutscene plays and the game works!
On Optimus laptop, tries to take fullscreen and just sits there, not even clearing screen
When I start the game, a rectangle shape animates in as if a window is going full screen, and takes a copy of whatever was on the desktop at the time. There it sits indefinitely, not playing any audio or drawing anything or otherwise advancing forward, until I force quit it.
Great social deduction survival horror game if you can tolerate not using a mic
User microphone is silent - other players cannot hear me talk
Obviously, proximity chat is huge in this game - the game does offer text and emotes, which is somewhat workable, but the experience is far better with a mic. Honestly, we're really close to Platinum here - other than this mic issue, the game runs fine!
For those interested, the issue is that Wine does not have support for the Windows Default Communication Device concept introduced in Windows 7 (see this MSDN link and this Wine source code - essentially, Wine's waveInOpen
implementation needs to be able to take some special flags in place of a device ID and use that to open the default Pulse mic). The devs have said that they're not prioritizing native Linux support, though they could also fix this problem by allowing you to explicitly pick your mic in game (which would be a nice QoL change for Windows users).
