Overall stable and playable.
Audio issues seem to be a pretty common occurrence with pulseaudio and not just this game. Some tweaking based on google searches for proton/linux/crackling/popping was enough to find help.
Controller issues are immensely frustrating however and more or less don't work. I can only get a DS4 to "work" as an Xbox controller by telling Steam to force controller input mapping off. Most of the buttons are then mapped backwards (e.g. shoulder and trigger buttons are swapped).
Despite being early access, pretty much pick up and play.
It could also be attributed to the games early access state.
It absolutely works out of the box, but unfortunately expect to take a significant hit to performance compared to Windows 10.
Loss of 20-40 fps compared to Windows on the same machine.
With the crash to desktops not so much. Maybe that will change when it has its real release down the road.
Had a couple crash to desktop. Game is technically pre-Alpha so it might not be Proton specific.
Runs great if you're willing to use a custom proton to support essential embedded videos.
Proton-5.9-GE-5-ST GloriousEggroll
Video used in Ch5 does not render in steam provided proton. Had to switch to this custom version. At this time of writing, the video MUST be playing for the game to proceed so it is essentially a softlock if it isn't working.
Works great with the exception of the softlock in Ch5 with current Steam provided Proton.
If you're willing to install a custom Proton it will work: https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom
It was about 2 min of effort and steam restart to make it show up as an option so not a huge headache.
