gamemoderun mangohud DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command% -nosplash
Switch to current newest proton GE should work perfectly.
-nosplash
For modding would reccomend MINT over vanilla mod manager.
It's not required by any means but it:
-Doesn't put any modding run any mod in any lobby.
-Doesn't barade your liblary with garbage mods from approved mod lobbies.
-Lets you downgrade to old version of a mod.
-Avoilds mod.io desync jank.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 mangohud gamemoderun
Does now show cursor in socialclub overlay (x11).
About -5% lower performance to native
The anisotropic filtering option is broken and only applies to current session so needs to be forced. This is however a game's issue and appears on native too.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8,version=n,b" PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 DXVK_NVAPI_ALLOW_OTHER_DRIVERS=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1 mangohud gamemoderun
Mouse cursor not visible in Social Club interface
About -5% performance impact over windows native
There seems to be an issue with a VRAM leak. I've been able to get aroud it by switching back and forth between proton versions resolved the issue for some reason. I'd probably try whiping the wine prefix (normally found on steam in compdata). A friend of mine was able to get the game to run on GE-Proton7-55 I only had luck with a newer release.
Anisotropic filtering setting has been bugged in the game since release (not linux specyfic). TLDR: The anisotropic filtering option only applies to the current session and doesn't persist. If you want anisotropy to work you have to force it, i've achived that by setting an application profile in nvidia settings to "GLLogMaxAniso = intiger 0X10 meaning 16 in hex.
mangohud gamemoderun %command%
Would reccomend to install the FAR(Fix Automata Resolution mod)
Game will not start without deleting "libdrm.so.2, libGLdispatch.so.0, libstdc++.so.6 and librt.so.1" from the game files.
The game uses some system tricks that often work different or are just straight up not present on linux. If you're not using a DE or just want a proper expirience from the game i'd reccomend playing it under windows.
Works identically (if not smoother) than windows with +/- 10 fps diviation a heavly modded instance with 500+ hours linux playtime.
mangohud gamemoderun PROTON_DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_USE_DXVK=1 PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command%
for superblt to work needs override in proton config or WINEDLLOVERRIDES="wsock32=n,b" launch option
Might expirience mouse input heavyness/delay after heavy use of alt+tab or steam overlay but it's quite rare.
mangohud gamemoderun PROTON_DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_USE_DXVK=1 PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=1 %command%
Playing a heavily modded instance works perfectly fine with no discernible difference between platforms.
DXVK makes the game more responsive than played native with both windows and Linux.
For SuperBLT needs override in proton config or WINEDLLOVERRIDES="wsock32=n,b" launch option.
DO NOT USE THE NATIVE VERSION!

This is probably (hopefully) due to change, and it's not platform-related. However, as of update 237 and the Epic Games release, the matchmaker is completely broken, requiring a connection to EOS in order to connect to the matchmaking servers. Therefore, you should expect not being able to join any lobbies.
Generally, the recommended approach for running the game is to utilize the provided launch options and the latest Proton GE release.
Playing on Proton actually makes the game smoother than playing under Windows natively on newer hardware due to lackluster Dx9 support on modern GPUs.
--------------------------------DO NOT USE THE NATIVE VERSION!--------------------------------
The native version uses an old, unsupported build. Not only does the native version lack new DLCs and split save files, but it is also far less stable and very difficult to mod, with some types of mods outright not supported.

For SuperBLT use typical windows instalation and add WINEDLLOVERRIDES="wsock32=n,b" launch option before %command%.

--------------------------------DO NOT USE THE NATIVE VERSION!--------------------------------
The native Linux version runs an outdated build that recently lost support for new DLC, is far less stable. It also uses a separate save file. Linux BLT tends to not play well or outright does not support some kinds of mods.
--------------------------------DO NOT USE THE NATIVE VERSION!--------------------------------
The game works great under proton, even slightly better than windows native thanks to DXVK!
gamemoderun WINEDLLOVERRIDES="wsock32=n,b" %command%
Put on whatever semi new version of GE proton you have handy and enjoy.
For SuperBLT use WINEDLLOVERRIDES="wsock32=n,b" launch option this does nothing for vanilla game.
Please keep in mind dxvk-async is not required anymore. HERE
And PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE is enabled by default. HERE
--------------------------------DO NOT USE THE NATIVE VERSION!--------------------------------
Linux native has been abandoned and runs a very outdated build that's:
Far less stable.
Does not support the latest DLC.
Is no longer save cross compatible.
Sevearly lacks modding support.
--------------------------------DO NOT USE THE NATIVE VERSION!--------------------------------
Playable on non-EAC Servers, which there's not many of.
Non-EAC servers also do not show up on the server list contributing to lackluster popularity and often feature additions that impact the game significantly i.e. deadlock's no raiding policy.
Game takes a ton of ram to function.
Running with 16Gb ram + 4Gb swap gets the game to run but at an unstable state, therefore more is recommended.
Mouse escaping application bounds. Managed to fix it using ConfineMouse in https://github.com/CyberShadow/hax11
Steam client seems to have issues with EAC "eac sandbox not active (dummy client)" Standalone launcher seems to work fine.
