Needs additional launch parameters: PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
It's absolutely fine.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command%
Doesn't boot using recent dxvk
Some textures dropped in and out of visibility.
Dropped frames and slowdown in cutscenes.
Needed the altered exe, noted below, and also had to edit the graphics config file in order to start: ./SteamApps/compatdata/50130/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local Settings/Application Data/2K Games/Mafia II/Saves/videoconfig.cfg
Had to disable vsync in order to play at more than 4fps
Menu and gameplay all suffer input delays
Save your game every hour or so; crashes are guaranteed.
As noted previously, launcher doesn't work - rename TS3W.exe to Sims3Launcher.exe to fix this (keep a copy of the old one, for when the launcher works)
Used protontricks to follow the suggested dotnet20 installation and this did not help. In fact the launcher 'encountered an error' rather than loading and crashing as before. Still need to rename the exe files to load.
Fullscreen darkens the gamma significantly; had to play in windowed mode.
As stated below, you need to download the dotnet runtime from Microsoft here
Save the NetFx64.exe file at:
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/47890/pfx/
Install the winetricks version of dotnet
WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/47890/pfx/ winetricks dotnet20
Then install the other launcher dependencies:
WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/47890/pfx/ winetricks mfc42 vcrun2005 vcrun2010
After this, you need to 'restore' the dotnet installation with the downloaded version.
WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/47890/pfx/ wine ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/47890/pfx/NetFx64.exe
and 'repair install' when prompted.
There are some graphical issues in the launcher, not sure if this is due to the Sims3 Store being closed or something else, but you can install your cc from the launcher, sign in to your account and access your free map from here.
Missing textures in the launcher only.
Fullscreen lowers the gamma significantly. Workarounds (such as maximised borderless windows) disable edge scrolling.
On Debian, it needed the additional package libnvidia-glvkspirv installing.
