The Microsoft account pop-up screen does not work at all by being completely blank, so there is no way to log in. Doesn't prevent gameplay beyond that.
Unless you really desire to have access to your Microsoft account you should have no issues.

Game was not built for ultra-widescreens in mind, so there is a lot of stretching and/or cropping in places that make it unplayable without running the commands listed.
Menus can't be accessed at the bottom of the screen with a mouse on ultra-widescreens, so you can't change stuff such as video settings.
Issues running the game in fullscreen. Running it with borders works, but it ruins the experience. When wanting to run the game without borders on all the time you will need to use custom commands for ultra-widescreens to make the game run in the correct widescreen format it was built for.
As long as you do not have an ultra-widescreen it should be fine. Might cause issues on 4k+ monitors due to its age.
Functioning launcher menu, but no game
On Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon I've tried different methods of forcing DA: O to install PhysX by replacing the .exe-file with a PhysX installer and then launching the game, but none of the different Proton versions work, whether it's GE, Experimental, current, or older builds.
PhysX is able to install and the launcher works with audio, but when starting the actual game I only get a small black box and a sound notification from the OS that the software has closed down, with the blue "Running" button on Steam eventually stopping as well.
Did not have any issues launching, adjusting settings, or playing the game. If you don't have the DLC you will have issues logging in.
Base game with no DLC doesn't allow you to log in and access the online features. I tried a solution I found online that is incredibly simple.
R click Elden Ring on Steam and go to Manage -> Browse Local Files and then into the ELDEN RING -> Game folder. Once there simply create a new .txt-file that is completely empty and call it "DLC.bdt" (will replace the ".txt" part). It will then make all the online features function as normal.
If you don't own the DLC, follow the instructions written down by tricking Elden Ring that you have "DLC.bdt" in your install location which is just an emtpy text document. Once done there shouldn't be any more issues.
It is notoriously buggy even on Windows, so some more bugs aren't making much of a difference. Launching it is still a worse experience.
Black ground textures and flickering in the campaign.
Impossible to log in with a Swedish keyboard because of the Microsoft account log in screen. Had to switch to an English UK/US keyboard setup to type anything beyond just letters. Made it much harder to type the e-mail and password. Once done you at least don't have to deal with that again.
Game crashes very often during the loading screen.
I also didn't notice any FPS improvements when lowering graphics from the highest to the lowest. FPS was however not worse on the highest settings than on Windows by being between 30-60 depending on what game mode I played on.
Crashes on startup on a regular basis. I also get an error message when launching each time where I am running an "Incompatible Operating System Version". Luckily I only need to press "Continue" to move on.
Ironically the game works better in other areas than on Windows, while working worse elsewhere. Launching the game on Windows takes several minutes to launch, but it works nonetheless. On Linux it crashes way more when launching, but loads significantly faster.
Linux also remembers my user settings such as graphics, sound, and other quality of life features being toggled, but on Windows the game resets every time I close the game. It has done so ever since launch, so not having to deal with that on Linux is like a breath of fresh air.
If the Proton version works it runs reasonably well. Ultra-widescreen monitors will have some issues.
Alt-tabbing sometimes affected the state of the screen. Switched from Fullscreen to Windowed without actually changing the Screen settings, but it behaved like Borderless by stretching the UI on my ultra-widescreen monitor. Had to change it back manually.
Left the game vacant for a bit and of some reason I couldn't click the menu items. Game froze shortly after with a black screen and needed to restart.
Had a crash after leaving the game vacant when paused for a few minutes. Also, newer versions of Proton and GE had the game window permanently freeze when trying to launch it. Had to downgrade to 8.0-5 for it to launch at all.
Screen Mode switching on its own when alt-tabbing in and out of the game.
Older versions of Proton work better than the latest iterations for this game.
