Installs and works fine, minor warning dialog that can be skipped
There's a warning about "MP3 Decodor DMO" not being installed. Checking "Don't show again" and continuing anyways works just fine.
First startup may be slower than expected, but it works fine once loaded.
Works great with defaults, even on a 2014 Intel graphics laptop
After an hour or so of gameplay, I've encountered two crashes.
It's not very often, and this might not be specific to Linux (I haven't played this on Windows).
I've not tried online matchmaking, only playing privately with friends.
A long time ago, I had trouble signing into my Ninja Kiwi account (I had to log in on the intro menu, it failed whenever I tried after getting into the game). However, this was on a much older version of Proton/Wine. I haven't dared logging out then logging back in to see if the issue has been fixed.
Works fine in VR, just make sure game is focused to get audio
The game must have active focus to play audio. I also had to switch from the Vive Analog audio output to the Vive HDMI connection to hear anything, but I don't think that's a game bug (it also happens with some other VR titles and with running Mumble).
Voice chat has a bit of lag (compared to using Mumble with a friend), but all seemed to work well.
When troubleshooting audio in the past, I forced Proton Experimental. That wound up breaking showing my VR controllers (HTC Vive Wands) when retrying with a newer Proton Experimental build, but returning to Proton 8.x fixed that.
The HTC Vive Wands are.. wonky for controlling this game as it seems to expect joysticks, but that's just the default mapping. You can remap the controllers if you have the patience to.
Works great, no issues other than intro video at game launch
Single player and multiplayer both seemed fine.
I noticed some lag during multiplayer, but my voice distorted on Mumble at the same time, so I don't think it's the game's fault - it doesn't have great lag compensation, but it was totally playable and generally didn't interrupt.
Works great, make sure older AMD cards are using amdgpu
Working great, no noticed issues in multiplayer (beyond minor glitches that affected a Windows-using friend, too).
If you have an older AMD graphics card, you may need to switch from the radeon driver to the amdgpu driver: https://askubuntu.com/questions/927601/i-think-im-using-radeon-instead-of-amdgpu-how-do-i-change
With my graphics card, on radeon I encountered a crash, on amdgpu it worked fine.
Working great, using amdgpu driver
If you have an older AMD graphics card (as I do), you may want to switch from the radeon driver to the amdgpu driver: https://askubuntu.com/questions/927601/i-think-im-using-radeon-instead-of-amdgpu-how-do-i-change
I haven't tested the radeon driver with Risk of Rain 2, but another game crashed with radeon and worked fine with amdgpu.
