You need to change your proton version to luxtorpeda proton to be able to play it natively without any lag or bugs and in the resolution you like.
gamescope -r 60 -f -n -- gamemoderun %command%
The game started with a black screen, but this was easily fixable with the proper launch options, either play windowed, or start the game windowed and switch to full-screen (alt-enter) afterwards if you don't use the launch options.
This game has a known issue of running too fast on displays faster than 60 Hz. Either limit it to 60 fps or run it windowed.
Works great out of the box, but using luxtorpeda's proton makes it better and gives you better performance.

works just fine, tested it with mangohud, gamescope and proton ge 7.17 all works great you just need to configure the game settings because automatic graphic settings are way too low, but can easly be fixed in the settings.
launches, shows the loading screen and first dialog, but then gets stuck on a black screen with only the cursor visible.
gamemoderun MANGOHUD=1 gamescope -f -n -- mangohud %command%
Major render device issues. The render target would display in place of the cursor. Although the game displayed in full screen, the majority of the screen would stay black, with the game menus being rendered as a tiny image roughly the size of the cursor and would track the cursor around in place of the cursor icon.
- Not working out of the box, tested with Glorious Eggroll (GE)'s proton ver. GE-Proton7-17 and Proton Experimental shows Major render device issues. The render target would display in place of the cursor. Although the game displayed in full screen, the majority of the screen would stay black, with the game menus being rendered as a tiny image roughly the size of the cursor and would track the cursor around in place of the cursor icon.
- Luxtorpeda's proton is the best way to run this game, since it uses “ET Legacy” as engine. Use the recommended 32-bit of ET Legacy version in order to play in all servers due to compatibility with server mods.
