There were issues with connecting to my friends, only thing that worked was steam invite. Sometimes it wouldn't connect at all, but on a 2nd try it usually did. Overall great experience.
It runs as if it was native
Sometimes it slows down when a lot is going on in the game
Works pretty well out of the box already in beta
Sometimes even with fullscreen enabled the game was in a window, but it could be also because of a bug in GNOME, who knows. Later patches never did that.
It's a beta and performance is not there yet. Sometimes I get 10-30 FPS before the game somehow settles (need to play for a couple minutes and switch locations) and then it gets to 60 FPS (got it capped on 60)
I tried some of the launch options others suggested (DXVK_STATE_CACHE=0 RADV_PERFTEST=aco %COMMAND% --force-vulkan) but it didn't change the performance at all. Also sometimes shortly after startup when FPS is low, the details settings don't matter (very low, low and medium all behave the same, high and more drop FPS even more).
It's terrible, really. So many bugs, freezes and whatnot. It's playable with tinkerink, though.
You need someone on Windows to copy over their files to bypass the paradox notice if the steam overlay doesn't open it
In multiplayer if the host is gone (because their game crashes as well), the game freezes and you need to close it (alt+f4 suffices)
The stupid paradox notice won't let you in if your steam can't open the overlay. Also the overlay is mandatory to play the game.
Freezes if the host disconnects due to crashes. Didn't try hosting myself.
It works on Proton 6, 7 and experimental, so at least there's that.
Works out of the box with the latest proton, doesn't ask for the CD key or anything
Works surprisingly well, with the default proton version on steam and with the launch options found here on this page in 1920x1080.
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 gamemoderun %command%
protontricks 475150 vd=1920x1080
Without the protontricks tweak, alt-tabbing crashes the game (also losing focus if you have a 2nd monitor and click there)
Occasional freeze or slow down, nothing serious, doesn't impact the gameplay (likely to be due to the game itself rather than Proton)
Flawless out of the box
Everything plays really well, it's the same as TR I - III remaster, no issues. The VI (Angel of Darkness) still has clunky controls compared to previous games, but that's the game itself, not Proton.
