Changing a few graphical settings crashes the game, and I've had at least one point where loading a certain saved always crashed the game (though this was easily fixed by loading a different save)
The native linux version has broken lighting when on high or max settings. This is most obvious with the ambient occlusion (colored lights especially seem to outline everything in that color) and ESPECIALLY the flashlight. I consider the game unplayable in this state, as it's impossible to see anything.
Proton version appears to work fine, with the occasional crash that I haven't bothered to fix because it's hardly an issue.
A solid 20 seconds of gameplay
I have saved data from my Windows install. So I load into the game, I'm at the house, I drive away and after getting like 10 seconds away the game freezes. Broken.
Perhaps it works with a different driver, or GE Proton, but for now, borked out of the box, launch options didn't change anything.
Skipping intro sequence as described here
Gnome appears to show two instances, with one being a dummy instance and the other actually being the game. Makes the Alt-Tab behavior a bit wonky.
Has the same issues as the Windows version
I could never get this to work when using an Nvidia GPU, but it seems to run just fine on my 6700xt. Dualsense inputs are flawlessly interpreted, though the vibration seemed a bit weak (this can be increased in game settings). Works with both X11 and Wayland.
Still no EAC through Linux support
Amazon Games still hasn't opted into allowing EAC on Linux. Why this is, I haven't the faintest clue. You can create a character, but you're unable to start the tutorial. Game seems to run okay, from the menus you're able to load.
The default option, "Play Quake", is the 2021... enhancement or what have you. Having never played the "original", I don't really need the 90's limitations. Runs at my native 3440x1440p (21:9) resolution at 240hz with zero issues.
Native Linux version is perfect, except for the lack of voice chat
No voice chat? Or perhaps you can only voice chat with other Linux players? The max team size is four so it's not too much of an issue.
On the menus, clicking with the mouse can teleport your cursor... a centimeter downwards? Only triggers if you've moved your cursor to the left by at least a couple pixels before clicking again. I haven't the faintest clue why this happens. No effect in game.
Feels like it crashes more often than usual. I'd say one crash an hour is common, playing nonstop.
Aside from the lack of voicechat, multiplayer works flawlessly. Thank you, native linux port.
Crashes on launch now
I'm not sure which update caused this, I'm not sure if it was an update to my system (from 21.10 to 22.04) or Splitgate's own update, but UE4 crashes upon launch. Attempted to disable mangohud, adding any custom launch commands causes the game to not even launch
Works again!
Voicechat is still missing
No voicechat hurts in comp
Perhaps it was updating to new graphics drivers, but the game once again launches with no issues. It doesn't seem to crash anymore, which is nice.
The most important thing that's missing is voice chat. Not sure why. But yes the native version is the best it's ever been
Flawless experience
Honestly you could tell me this was a native title and I wouldn't know any better. The only thing I've noticed is that sometimes alt+tab crashes the game? Well, not crash, but the usual blank-screen-with-audio. But it doesn't always happen (like doing so on the title screen seems safe). 10/10
