No matter which proton used or graphic settings changed, game ran horribly
Running on internal storage, sdcard, desktop mode gaming mode, nothing helps.
I don't know if it is because of SteamOS 3.3 or if Hat in Time updated but, the game has dramastically improved in performance.
New vulkan shaders it asked to download when launching took a while to download.
Fps would be finicky if the in-game fps was capped. Uncapping the framerate and capping the Deck's fps to 60 allows for 60fps the majority of the time on Med-Low settings. Never went below 50 through my playthrough.
Used proton experimental for archipelago mod usage. Unaware if performance has changed on regular version. But game performed well when using it a year ago.
Follwed this guide for the f2p EGS version, works perfectly. https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/vht8d1/fall_guys_f2p_epic_version_tutorial_for_steam_deck/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
FPS is constantly dipping into the 40's
Tried gaming mode, desktop mode, Proton Ge, Experimental, No compatibility layer. All resulted in the same stuttery mess.
Audio may be crackly sometimes, nothing too bad. Using anything besides a gamepad does not work however.
Player mics can crackle.
When playing docked, using a mouse and keyboard isn't reconized. And the option to swap between gamepad and KB&M is just missing when playing on steamdeck.
Game doesn't open unless on proton experimental.
Handheld mode player names and text hard to read. Especially with frame generation.
When closing the game the Steam Deck reboots
Having all settings on low and all upscaling settings set to the lowest settigns at best grants 60-40 fps very inconsistently which isnt viable for a competitive shooter. Handheld mode the scaling issues arent as noticible but docked it becomes unbearable.
As of 7/16 the game doesn't have preshaders yet. If experiencing stutter, go into the training room and use every character's moves.
Enemy character icon sometimes defaults to using Steven's icon instead.
Using every characters moves in the lab eliminates stutter and gives a smooth 60fps with high settings.
Works out of the box perfectly
Very few particle effects are boxes instead of smoke.
Controller profiles and story mode saves sometimes disappeared on new launch
Choppy 50-60fsp along with bad frame pacing
Casually may be fine for some, but having constant fps dips in a fighting game is difficult to look over. All in-game settings result in around 50-60fps rare dips into 45's under certain circumstances.
Patch 1.3 v1 has fixed the frame rate, pacing, and other inconsistencies making for a smooth expereince on Steam Deck
Fps dips for a second during the start of the match, and when a character spawns an item for the first time per match such as Goddard, jack hammer, etc. (Relevant on regular PC version as well.)
Competitive fighting games need a stable consistent 60fps which this cannot currently provide in both 1v1 and 2v2
Particle effect like Orcane's Bubbles, Zetterburn's fire, Lox's lava, and Forseburn's smoke cause's slowdown. 1v1's holds almost consistent 60fps otherwise. 2v2's is unable to hold consistent 60fps and dips into the high 40's at points.
If exclusivly playing 1v1's casually, the frame dips may not be that big of a deal since its very minor and at the very worst go to 50fps. Normally 55fps
Tried multiply proton versions.
game cannot keep consistent 60fps
Frequant dropped fps when it should be able to keep a stable 60fps.
Massive improvment compared to a year ago. Previously was unable to keep at stable FPS above 30fps but, can now keep a consistent 60fps.
Improved performance as of 3.4.10
Seemed like there was extremely minor fps dips during the later levels, but the built-in overlay claimed to be locked at 60fps. I beleive this was probably an issue with frametimes since the gamescope line appeared to be a little jittery whenever I noticed the minor hiccups.
Expecting even better performance when 3.5 is officially released, fixing the SMT issue that doesn't seem to be apparent anymore anyways.
Playing online caps the fps at 30, GE fixes this use
Stable 60fps. May take a minute to create or join into an online lobby but otherwise works flawlessly.
No resolution options. When playing in desktopmode it will the resolution of the monitor which may cause performance issues if it is above 720p.
When loading into a new area the game may slowdown for a second or two, but stabilizes just as fast. Extremely rare when doing so.
