The game ran well. I completed the game on hard and shell shocked difficulty with only one crash.
The game crashed once.
There were no bugs from proton as far as I could tell. Standard proton (shipped with steam) wouldn't let me click on anything in game.

Glorious Eggroll's proton (I used 6.13-GE-1)
The game is a bit buggy in general. So there could potentially have been a bug from proton as it's hard to tell, but it didn't seem like it.
Though I managed to log into my microsoft account (though the login screen is invisible), I could still not connect to a game nor host one.
On Proton 4.11 performance was significantly slower than normal, on Proton experimental performance was hovering around 60fps but would drop frequently.
On proton versions greater that 4.11 the microsoft login screen does not render. You can log in while it's invisible, but I still couldn't use the multiplayer.
The single player seemed to work ok, but I wanted this game for the multiplayer.
Gameplay runs perfectly
When you first open the game, the main menu is just a black screen with audio. If you wait, the menu eventually appears. I'd recommend installing the game on an SSD, as this wait is significantly worse on a HDD.
Once I installed Glorious Eggroll's custom proton version, the game ran impressively well. No slowdowns, solid 60 fps, no graphical issues.

Any embeded video will crash the game. All the weapon tutorial videos play, but then the game freezes when they finish, so I'd avoid playing these videos.
Annoyingly, when you first install the game, a trailer for Iceborn opens when you go into the main menu. To prevent this from crashing your game, Spam the hell out the back button before the video can play.
Also, when you finish the campaign, this same video tries to play after the credits and if you don't do the same thing, your game will crash and you'll have to watch the unskippable credits again.
My mouse wouldn't move while I had a controller plugged in for whatever reason. After I unplugged it, there were no problems
Until the stability improves (whether that's proton's or the game's fault), the frequent crashing is too much of a problem.

One of the times I booted the game, the bloom was cranked so everything was glowing, some of the buildings were black and some of the textures were glitched.
In the 7 hours I played, I crashed/froze 4 times.
The game crashed once, not sure if that was related to proton though.
Other than the one crash I had, one of the night events just gave me a blank window and I couldn't continue. Not sure if that was just a normal game bug though.
Apart from your character having a big ball over his head and the occasional stuttering, the game runs well.
