lag everytime a match starts an frequent freeze - audio plays normally but the the rest is frozen.
added iommu=pt in my grub settings - that fixed the lag and the freezes.

Game freezes when a session ends
Just download one of the community control layouts and you are set for Single/Spec Ops. (In my opinion still janky, since there is no offical controller support). Spec Ops multiplayer doesnt work, just keeps connecting to IW servers.
The multiplayer part works fine, but I had no audio at all. Had stable 60FPS in both single and multiplayer.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 gamemoderun %command%
Doesn't start without using launch option PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1
Vanilla game runs fine. IW4x is fine too but requires a little tinkering to get working smoothly.
Music and killstreak announcements would sometimes bug completely. (Only on IW4x with Proton GE)
Game would sometime crash when changing maps. (Only on IW4x)
Replace .exe with iw4x
Used piper to lower mouse polling to 125hz to fix
Game randomly crashes or won't launch stock. Replace .exe with iw4x and lower mouse polling to 125hz for near native experience.
gamemoderun %command%
1KHz mouse polling rate causes a mouse acceleration bug for this game, it must be lowered to 100MHz or 200MHz.
Issues joining friends parties.
Game downloads but won't launch
No issue. Just Install and Play. Was able to find a lobby and played a few rounds with no issue or hiccups.
Steam would report the game as running despite no signs of life from it. Processes didn’t even start when I checked

Black box on start up
The splash screen just loaded a black box instead and did not start
having the game crash when changing settings is a big downside
I'm on integrated graphics
crashes when I leave a game and change settings
Installs out the box from steam, works perfectly

5.6-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Game launches using proton no tweaks needed. I have protonfixes installed so I selected it as a customization option but I dont think it does anything for this game.
Einwandfrei spielbar, auch im Onlinemodus mit Spielersuche; keinerlei Beeinträchtigungen bemerkbar
The game runs perfectly.

I was playing the MW2 multiplayer. After the installation, the first start on Linux ran without a problem. Sometimes, it has some fps drops for the first several seconds, but after that no more.
Then, I set every graphics to max and searched for a game. The first lobby was ahacked lobby. I was searching for TDM and get Domination (the good old MW2 times :D). Even though it was a hacked lobby, the game ran smoothly on 91 fps. No lag, missing textures or fps drops. It works like out-of-the-box.
Additional info: My mouse is a Logitech G402 with some extra mouse buttons, while the buttons on the left side represent 'back' (Mouse 4) and 'forth' (Mouse 5). These buttons were recognized without any tweaks in Linux or Proton. Edit a control key in the game settings and press the button. BAM. Set. Only the Logitech G-Keys were not regnozied, neither by the game nor by the OS.

Multiplayer worked out of the box, on certain maps mouse sensitivity slows down in certain areas / if you rotate the mouse sensitivity isnt uniform which is essentially preventing you from aiming correctly

I only tested the multiplayer which worked flawlessly.

Esync disabled, boots up saying Steam must be running to launch.

Runs perfectly

Everything seems to work just perfectly

it seems like there can be a lot of slowdowns but otherwise plays fine

Steam says it's running but it never actually starts, after 30 secs Steam says the game is no longer running.

Stutters a bit when first getting into a game, but then runs smoothly with no noticeable performance reduction or input lag.

Multiplayer works perfectly.

No problems encountered

It seems to run below 50 fps, but Steam tells, it runs at about 80 fps.

feels sluggish

Can play for 1-30 minutes, then completely locks up the system

Good performance on MP , SP doesn't works

Can't set 144 Hz, mouse input feels laggy and imprecise. Some stuttering.
