The game is very good playable with Proton. I had only minor problem which about I can't say which are game or proton related.
Sometimes (in large maps when there many things explodes) I had minor performance issues in first person.
I had occasionally (every 1-2 hours or so) a crash, but I can't say which of these crashes are game or proton related, since a friend who is playing on Windows had a crash once too.

perfect native like experience, even online
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 gamemoderun MANGOHUD=1 %command% --disable-gpu
For the games AntiCheat to work (G201 error), you need to install the Proton BattleEye Runtime, as described here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Planetside/comments/qrl1hq/guide_running_planetside_2_on_linux/
runs perfectly fine now
native like experience besides the rare crashes which maybe can be resolved
Sometimes (lukily not very often) the game crashes with following error: "ERR_GFX_STATE Game error. Please reboot and restart the game." I am not sure if this is a Proton bug though
I didn't experience any performance degradation or similar like others described. I chose very individual graphic options though. Regarding the crashes: I found online, that I could try to switch to DX12. I didn't try it out yet, because then the game would have to use DXVK which hurts performance
gnome-terminal; echo %command%
Skyrim is perfectly playable over Proton, with a bit of tinkering even modding (including ENBs) works fine. Here is my quick guide for modding Skyrim with the Vortex Mod Manager in Steam: https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Vortex/issues/9629#issuecomment-1013550618. For another Proton version replace the runner name in the command (like in my case "Proton-7.1-GE-2". I installed over 20 popular mods, like SkyUI, Combat Overhaul, Realistic Water, Flora Overhaul, Noble Skyrim, Lanterns of Skyrim, DynDOLOD, Enhanced Lights and FX, SMIM, Re-Engaged ENB, Vivid Weathers, ...
The game is borked on DX12 and degraded on DX11 (worse performance and missing features like FSR)
gamemoderun MANGOHUD=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 %command%
Since the next-gen update performance is worse under DX11 (probably because of the D3D12 translation layer that comes on top of DXVK).
DX12 crashes in the loading screen when entering a game (doesn't matter if old save or new game). Main menu works mostly fine, except when I enter options the game freezes for a couple of seconds and than catches up ("rubberband-effect"). I have tried Proton Experimental as well, no difference.
Apart from the problem with the Shift-Button everything was working fine!
The Shift Button was not working (so I had to map running to "<")

Problems with Anti-Cheat - No way to play online.
When I want to join a game it says "Anti Cheat Error: 0x600B03EE". When I click "OK" it says "You were disconnected by the server. ea2218a4-4264-4908-a9ce-e8f19ff244c1 ERROR: 104010149010153010146". I tried both Proton 6.3-3 and Proton Experimental - no difference. Shooting Range is working however, but there is not much use for that. But it shows that Anti Cheat is the only problem.
