Doesn't seem to work with any of the Proton 7 series versions. Does work with Proton 6.3-8
Launches then closes
Tried adding the LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE COMMAND and used protontricks to force vcrun2015. Still crashes out immediately. Also tried using Glorious Eggroll's custom Proton version (6.5-GE-2) and versions 4 and 5 of Proton. Still no joy unfortunately
Using current version of Proton Experimental, game launched. Keyboard non-functional, but using gamepad the game worked perfectly
Keyboard did not work, Gamepad did
Works out of the box.
Playing via ALVR. The game stutters a little in the headset (Quest 3) sometimes but I suspect this is more down to my ALVR settings than anything else as I haven't tinkered with the defaults. It seems, so far, to be more prone to stuttering in darker areas.
No changes required.
[Opinion] Irritating voice acting. Controls aren't great on Quest 3 and I had to work them out myself.
As others have mentioned, disable Esync. Keyboard does not work at all with Proton 5.0-9. Reverting to Proton 4.11-13 fixed the problem
Keyboard does not work with Proton 5.0-9. Had to revert to 4.11-13
Keyboard issue not related to Proton version. Game always starts minimised on my setup. Alt+tabbing immediately to gain focus fixes issue.
Non-functional keyboard
Crashes or Hangs
Used to work flawlessly on older Proton versions, but now either gets to white screen then back to desktop (6.38) or (5.x) logs in, lets you select a race then hangs. Tried the launch option recommended by others but makes no difference. Currently unplayable
Edited Launcher.exe.config to change to true
The game installs and launches fine. The cutscenes do not play on Proton 7.0-3 without modifying the config file mentioned by #sbock below, but after changing 'false' to 'true', everything seems to run perfectly.
As noted in the Steam Deck post above
Everything was working perfectly until I got to mission 12 and then suddenly the cutscenes wouldn't play. Updating to GE-Proton7-24 fixed the problem.
Hangs at intro scene
This is for the Demo version. Game launches successfully and you can click new game, but shortly after the voiceover starts the game just hangs and the system becomes unresponsive. Trying to get out of the game does not seem to work with the only 'safe' way of getting out being with the Magic SysRq key.
I've got a dual boot with Windows 10 on another drive that I use if I absolutely have to, so I logged in there and installed TKOH then went to regedit and exported the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\bohemia interactive studio.
I then booted back into Linux and opened regedit using Wine - env WINEPREFIX=PATH TO STEAM LIBRARY/steamapps/compatdata/65730/pfx regedit.
i then renamed the registry key Steam had set up and imported my new registry key back in. I did have to change a couple of paths for the game and expansions as they're in different locations.
After that, the game launched straight away and seems to work as intended.
