I couldn't get past the first cutscene
I couldn't get past the first cutscene and it took me a long time to find out how to do what all the others on here said i should do since all guides on the internet sucks, so i made my own guide that should help a lot for noobs like me that don't know that much about Linux. https://steamcommunity.com/groups/TheUbuntuGamer/discussions/0/3131667021984024214/
its run really fast and good as long you use LO: gamemoderun PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 DXVK_HUD=fps %command%
Blur Textatur fix with LO: PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1
i had no problem running this out of the box with Proton 6.3-2
The game doesn't work without WMP since it can't play the cut scenes.
The game need WMP to run, and all the replay on the internet about making an X32 prefix didn't work for me since it uses steam own prefix and its x64, and it will not let you install wmp on the x64 prefix, so what you have to do is to start the game the first time on Proton 5.0 and then use this command PROTON_VERSION="Proton 5.0" protontricks 222480 -q wmp9 it will let you install WMP9 on the steam x64 prefix.
crach as it starts
I have tried all proton + proton 6.3 GE. As soon as the first text shows the games crash, I have been attempting to install WMP9, mf-install and played around with dxvk.conf, and nothing works after too many tired I got a "something went wrong error." I had to wait 24 hours, and it's an error that doesn't look like you can fix it because I tried to log on to windows with the same account and installed it and still got the same error, so I'm stuck for the next 24 hours unless I use a new steam account. Also, RE8 uses a wmvideo decoder just like RE3, and I don't know if that has somthing to do with it besides been a time-based Demo.
Rub out of the Box with Proton 6.3 and Proton-E
This game runs like a dream. The only problem i have is when i come to a new area for the first time; it lags while its shader renders it. As soon it's done, it runs fine. Also, i see some big desync, in Co-op but i don't know if it's my internet or it's because of the Beta-experimental version.
