Failed to allocate video memory, refuses to elaborate, crashes
+com_skipIntroVideo 1
There are reports every now and then on fixes in newer drivers, (e.g. Nvidia 515.43.04: see https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/3773). It's not on Manjaro yet and I'm not about to mess with uninstalling the Manjaro-packaged driver.
gamemoderun %command% +com_skipIntroVideo 1
FPS is a lot lower than I'm used to after updating drivers.
On the latest Nvidia drivers on Manjaro, it actually works now. Problem is, the framerate has taken a nosedive. I'm getting ~40-60 instead of the 100 lock I'm used to.
gamemoderun %command% +com_skipIntroVideo 1
Ignore my last report- a combination of actually setting gamemoderun properly (oops) and restarting the game is getting me a far better framerate now.
The crashing issue means you have to interrupt the gameplay to manually save after doing literally anything.
~/fgmod/fgmod %command%
Game crashes every 5 minutes or so.
Decky framegen used, albeit not to generate frames but to enable FSR upscaling (the game struggles to run at an acceptable resolution otherwise.) It honestly looks surprisingly okay on Steam Deck for a PS5 game with the FSR mod.
For the record, I did try it initially without the FSR mod. Crashes still happened.
Game double-inputs if SteamInput is on, but I'm fairly sure that's also the case on Windows
Stutters when loading new materials.
Overall runs perfectly, just that the game stutters hard when loading things. I'm not sure if this is the case on Windows as well. Both default proton and GE work perfectly. This may be Square's best PC port yet.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 gamemoderun %command% -dx11
There is a considerable blur in DX11 mode. Without DX11, there is a very noticeable stutter.
This issue apparently also exists on Windows: SteamInput results in double inputs.
Ultimately there's a tradeoff between the default DX12 mode being super high res but with loading stutters and DX11 mode being blurry but completely seamless. Pick your poison.
Works perfectly out of the box, no tinkering or anything.
Without ProtonGE, there's a weird issue where cutscenes may load the wrong audio.
