DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
I've a soundcard with 4 inputs and 4 outputs. Pipewire/pulse/pavucontrol recognises this as a surround card even though it's not. This broke all dialog/voice audio in game. Switching to a stereo soundcard solved the issues.
Finished the game with a Dualsense controller which worked out of the box. No crashes.
Had some stuttering which was resolved by gamemoderun
and enabling DXVK_ASYNC=1
. After this, the game ran at a steady 60fps.
The game also could crash if I switched workspaces/windows. But this was solved by running it a Wine virtual desktop by using WINEPREFIX=~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/33230/pfx winetricks mwo=disable vd=2560x1440
. And replace the WINEPREFIX
path with your own path of course and resolution.
One thing to keep in mind is Uplay will keep running after quiting the game. But if you run it in a virtual desktop, you can easily quit Uplay by right clicking the tray icon in the virtual desktop.
Runs great
Hotplugging controllers didn't seem to work. But if everything is connected during game launch everything works fine. Used a Steam Controller and a Dual Sense controller. Even the button prompts match perfectly.
Game ran perfect. But had one bug in some of the early levels where we couldn't throw an item in a basket (or something). This bug also seems present on Windows. Temporarily lowering the framerate below 60fps fixed this.
And somethimes the game wouldn't launch and get stuck on the EA app. But killing the game and retrying it always solved it.
Runs flawless
Completed the game without any issues. With a gamepad (Sony Dualsense).
Runs great
Works great out of the box. Also playing with two people locally in an online game works great. Game recognised both the Steam Controller and Dual Sense controller with the correct button prompts.
Runs almost perfect
Some occasional lighting glitches indoors
Had 5 crashes with ~60 hours of playtime. Seemingly random. Not sure if it is caused by the game itself or the GPU drivers.
Besides the two minor issues the game ran great.
Runs perfectly
Finished it with a Dualsense controller, no crashes or glitches and alt+tab was safe to do. FPS was around 90 and sometimes dropping to 70 on the highest settings.
Proton-7.0rc6-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Saw other reporters had some issues with cutscenes not loading. GloriousEggroll's Proton fork didn't have these issues. Didn't try the regular Proton.
Alt+tab is perfectly safe and works fine as long as you don't do it during loading. That would break the mouse in-game for me.
At first the game seemed unplayable. It did a lot of shader compling I guess.
But with DXVK_ASYNC=1
and enabling the Steam shader cache, the stuttering was reduced a lot, making it playable.
In most areas I was able to get frame rates between 90-140. But in cities, it would still drop as low as 40.
The only bug I had was that the textures on companions would often visibly reload during conversations. Probably because of the async flag I set. But it wasn't really bothering me.
Finished the game (30 hours) without any crash.
Runs great apart from some minor visual glitches
On the submarine, the screen would sometimes become bright white and then fade to normal after looking into certain light fixtures.
I tried to play this game back in 2018 on Windows didn't finish it due to the amount of crashes. On this playthough where no crashes at all. Had one issue when arriving at the farm. The screen turned black when this level started, but reloading the save fixed it.
Apart from that, the game ran at a stable 120fps (capped) framerate.
Runs great
There were some framedrops in some areas in the first chapter. After that it ran smoothly and without issues.
There is one bug where sometimes the audio in cutscenes is very quiet, but that's also present when running on Windows.
