Seems to work out of the box.
The shaders on the characters seemed odd, but that might just be because of the style, combined with lower graphics settings. I haven't compared this to native platforms.
Changing the resolution when in fullscreen crashed the game.
One crash, noted earlier.
Works as expected after following terminal instructions by goldsrcmasterrace for Ubuntu on reddit:
"sudo apt install python3-pip python3-setuptools python3-venv"
"python3 -m pip install --user pipx"
"~/.local/bin/pipx ensurepath"
(I had to run
"sudo apt install pipx "
here)
"pipx install protontricks"
Only "problem" I have is low framerate, which is expected of my system.
Halo Reach co-op stutters constantly, and although this doesn't affect framerate, it's almost unplayable.
We couldn't progress through the Winter Contingency mission of Halo Reach without a 'coop error' that ends the game and sends us to the game menu.
I have to run the game on the lowest graphical settings so I can't tell if there were any graphical bugs. One bug I did encounter is that I didn't see the player models in the menu when using the intel integrated graphics, which then made prompted me to download the terrible Nvidia drivers, with which I had no unexpected issues. I didn't try multiplayer yet as my friend has yet to acquire the game. Proton 4.2(?) did not function with the game as it refused to launch, but I just downloaded Proton 4.2-1 and the game launches with it, I have yet to test it. The game itself however seems to have performance issues with large enemy quantities (my FPS dropped from an almost stable 60 to 2 FPS on the third stage).
Does not continue past EAC splash
EAC splash gets stuck on "Initializing..." and relaunches didn't help. Verifying game files made the game never launch again.
Works out of the box, doesn't need a patch anymore. Just requires a controller to be present for some reason so that the game doesn't close after 15 minutes.
